Make Oregon Your Base Camp for Adventure
In the U.S., Oregon is perfectly situated along the Interstate-5 corridor between the three West Coast host cities: Seattle (3 hours north of Portland), San Francisco (10 hours south of Portland) and Los Angeles (15 hours south of Portland). Oregon makes an ideal base camp for a road-trip adventure, with easy access to the beach, mountains, forest trails, wild and scenic rivers, world-class wine country, farm-fresh eats, Indigenous culture and all of the outdoor recreation you can imagine — from rafting and kayaking to fishing, mountain biking and stargazing. Oregon is home to excellent international and regional airports, making it a breeze to fly in and out and fly your Oregon adventure if you prefer.
Portland is Soccer City, USA
Did you know that Portland is nicknamed Soccer City, USA? Oregon’s most populous city brings a lot of love to the beautiful game with two professional squads: The Portland Timbers (the men’s Major League Soccer team) and the Portland Thorns (the three-time National Women’s Soccer League champions). Both play at Providence Park, just minutes from downtown and easily accessible via public transit. Attend one match and you’re bound to be electrified for days by the energy that the city’s fans bring. The Timber’s Army bangs on drums and sings. The Rose City Riveters cheer for the Thorns. In fact, both booster clubs even have their own travel guides.
