Rockaway Beach

Rockaway’s long sandy beach is the focal point of this family-friendly, laid-back community.

Here, visitors can hike nearby Neahkahnie Mountain, go clamming, crabbing or trout fishing, and enjoy annual events that include the kite festival and arts and crafts fair. This midway spot between Cannon Beach and Tillamook is often less crowded than other beaches. Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad, with depots in Rockaway, Wheeler and Garibaldi, provides interpreted train rides along the coast. Don’t miss Rockaway Beach’s magnificent old cedar accessed at the Cedar Wetlands Nature Preserve. The half-mile boardwalk trail begins from the trailhead on Highway 101, right at the welcome sign for Rockaway Beach. There are also several good dining options and fun gift shops.
