came in pretty late in day without reservation. The last three spots were noted on the board with instructions for first come first serve and how to pay. I was able to secure the last spot. It was around 5 pm in afternoon. Lots of families, kids with bikes and dogs. Spaces were small but adequate. Very mixed group of RVs with some very old and some brand new. No issues through the night, no loud parties, or out of control drunk people. I felt safe as a solo traveler but I did not go down to the beach on the pathway since it was late in day and there were a lot of pets being walked about. couple of barking dogs but not bad. There was a very large pile of trash at the entrance overflowing both dumpsters which was quite nasty looking. I got a call later in day about my payment from a young kid because I wrote the wrong space number and he just needed clarification, not an issue. $54 for one night.
We stopped off in Barview Jetty on our way up to Rockaway Beach and I am glad we pulled into this spot. It's almost like a little cove as it's very rocky and full of driftwood, but you can get a view of both the Tillamook Bay and the Pacific Ocean. It might be because we were there in the offseason, but it was very quiet and not busy at all. It was chilly too, so if you're there in February make sure you bring a warm hoodie or jacket. There is a lot of sea life in this little area, too. We saw quite a few clams and crabs along the sand, as well as some little fish in the tide pools. This was one of my favorite parts of our trip.
Campground was busy for July 4th weekend. Definitely book ahead of time. The bathrooms were close by and clean for a campground. Flushable toilets, not stinky and hot showers for $0.50. Very short distance to the beach and if it wasn't so windy my kid would have loved to stay all day on the beach. A sand dune for the kids to slide down along with a decent playground.
This is an overcrowded campground with the dirtiest restroom and showers we have ever seen in a campground. It is high priced for what you get. We slept here in a tent and had plenty of noisy neighbors camped near us. Keep traveling if you can and find another place.
We stayed in cabin number 2. It has two bunks, one with a larger bottom bed, a futon and a table for 4. There is an overhead fan and a wall heater. In the past there were tv’s in the cabin for dvds but there was NO tv. The bathrooms were well maintained and close to the cabins. Check-in was easy and the camp hosts were all super friendly. Beach access is at the end of the road that the cabins are on, a 3-5 minute walk. The playground is great! The view from the top of the sand dune is amazing.
