Little Crater Lake Trail first crosses a meadow then enters a small stand
of trees which open up onto a tiny jewel – Little Crater Lake. A viewing deck, bench and information sign are at the lake. To this point, a distance of only 800′, the trail is barrier-free. The trail continues another 800 ‘ to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Going south on the PCNST brings you to the Timothy Lake Trail, where there is a 13 mile trail around the lake. If you simply stay on the PCNST for another 150 yards past the Timothy Lake junction you’ll reach Crater Creek, a lovely wide creek.

Directions: From Rhododendron: Travel south on Highway 26 approximately nine miles past its junction with Highway 35. Turn south on Forest Service Rd. 42 for approximately 3.5 miles, then turn right (west) onto Rd. 58. Follow 58 for 2 1/4 miles to the entrance of Little Crater Campground. The trailhead is located in the campground.
