Coffin Lookout Trail
Just about anything you find on TravelOregon.com can be added to your own personal Trip Planner. Find out how.
The Coffin Lookout Trail (#3392) is a moderate to difficult 1.5 mile hike that offers a shorter route to the staffed fire lookout on Coffin Mountain than does Trail 3425 (Coffin Mountain Trail) on the mountain’s west slope. Lookout is staffed during fire season. The vegetation is old-growth Douglas-fir forest changing to subalpine mountain hemlock and creeping juniper. Bring your own water, lookout will not provide.
Directions: From Detroit: Follow Hwy. 22 east from Detroit Ranger Station for 21 miles; turn onto Road 11 (Straight Creek road). Follow to the second junction with Road 1168.
