Enjoy yourself at Golden and Silver Falls by taking full advantage of the great spots for hiking, picnicking, viewing scenery, fishing and wildlife watching and bird-watching.

The small parking and picnic area are located along the banks of Glenn and Silver Creeks and is shaded by large maple, alder, and Oregon myrtle trees. Hiking trails wind through scenic canyons to each of the waterfalls — they plunge over sheer rock cliffs to moss covered boulders 100 feet below.

Hike to the top of Golden Falls to get an eagle’s-eye view of the cascading waterfall and giant old-growth firs and cedars.

Vital stats: There is no fee to use this park.

: The Oregon coast receives abundant rainfall, mostly between October and April. July and August bring the best chance for clear days. Summer temperatures are normally moderate and almost never hot. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long.

Location: Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area is located just inland from Oregon's South Coast, 24 miles off US 101, and 24 miles northeast of Coos Bay on Coos River Highway.
