Snow Much Fun

November 27, 2012 (Updated December 6, 2016)

Winter in Oregon brings fun for kids of all ages, so button up and get out in the white stuff. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Dashing through the snow
With a snap of the reigns and a jingle of harness bells you’ll be off and flying on a horse-powered snow tour. Cruise behind those four-footers in a sleigh with Sunriver Stables and Mt. Hood Adventure or a carriage with Black Butte Ranch and Colton Carriage Services.

Ice, ice baby
Once the temperatures drop, you can lace up and skate at outdoor rinks in Enterprise, Pendleton, Redmond, Seventh Mountain Resort, the Sunriver Village Mall and Klamath Ice Sports. Practice your spins or join a pickup hockey game.

Slipping and sliding
Take your winter tubing hill. Add lasers, strobe lights, reflective tubes and a killer sound system and what do you get? Cosmic Tubing at Mt. Hood Skibowl! You can also speed down the Autobahn Tubing Park at Hoodoo Ski Area, Snowblast Tubing Park at Mt. Bachelor and tubing hills at Cooper Spur and Willamette Pass Resort.

Snowy bonus
The Mt. Hood Ski Bowl zipline will stay open this winter for the first time. Zip around the ski park on an 800-foot-long tour with awesome views of Mt. Hood and the surrounding forest.
