Glenn Otto Park & Beach

This listing is provided by Explore Troutdale

This 6.38 acre park with a swimming beach, riverfront access, picnic shelters, children’s playground, open play area, restrooms, meeting hall, and caretaker. Access to the site is off East Historic Columbia River Highway.

The Sam Cox Great Room and the covered picnic areas can be reserved for parties, picnics, etc., and the Annex can be reserved for meetings, presentations or training, by contacting the Reservation line at 503-674-7297. Please note that alcohol and pets are NOT allowed at Glenn Otto Park.

The park is also home to Sugarpine Drive-In, a popular restaurant among tourists and residents alike. The building the restaurant occupies was originally built in the 1920s as a gas station and later operated as a tackle shop.

For most of the past 20 years, the American Medical Response (AMR) River Safety Program has provided two lifeguards — and typically a third or even fourth when temperatures and/or crowds increase — at the Glenn Otto Park beach area on the Sandy River typically from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Anyone entering the river at Glenn Otto Park is strongly encouraged to wear a life jacket as the current is swift and the water is cold.
