Come and hear the joyous music of Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi at this special performance by the Bach Cantata Choir in the historic 1937 Steiner Log Church. This church, built entirely by hand by the famous cabin builder Henry Steiner and his family, is filled with unique hand-crafted architectural features and details. Of the two “Steiner Churches” in Oregon, sadly, only one remains today — and that is the beautiful 1937 Steiner Log Church.
This concert will feature members of the Bach Cantata Choir, along with two violins and a harpsichord. The program will include works by Bach, Handel and Vivaldi — along with a chance for the audience to sing along to some of Bach’s more familiar choruses, such as “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” The concert is appropriate for all ages.
Tickets should be purchased in advance. Because the church is small, seating is limited to 60 people. Please note that the Steiner Log Church is a historical structure and not wheelchair accessible. Parking is very limited at the church — there is room for about 10 cars in the areas around the church, and parking is available on the road (E Barlow Road). Carpooling is very much encouraged. It is a short walk from the road to the church. Volunteers will be available to assist patrons with parking and directions.
Patrons who arrive early will be able to wander through the church and marvel at the craftsmanship of this very unique structure.
