Welcome to the Church of Art’s weekend of bookmaking and art journaling. It is recommended to sign up for both Saturday and Sunday’s workshops; however you are free to register for one event and not the other.
Part I, Saturday, February 28th, from noon to 5 p.m.: Bookmaking (5 hours)
If you’ve wanted to learn how to make your own art journal, then this is the workshop for you. In this 5-hour workshop, artists Fran Halperin and Erika Halperin will guide the group in creating 5″ x 7″ sketchbooks using a variety of mixed papers, including junk mail, for the inside pages. The wide range of thicknesses, textures and sizes of mixed papers makes for a charming and fun book which you can then fill with your own drawings, paintings, and collages. You will have your choice of wallpaper samples and book-making fabrics to personalize your journal’s cover to suit your own style. Your handmade journal is yours to keep, plus you’ll gain bookmaking skills and the confidence to make more journals on your own.
If you are interested in Part II of this series (Art Journaling -3 hours), please register separately for the Sunday, March 1st workshop.
