A century ago, Government Camp had a close neighbor you won’t find on modern maps. Located just off the historic Barlow Road near the present day Still Creek Campground and Summit Meadows, Swim was a bustling mountain hub. Founded in 1920, the resort boasted a general store, post office, and a year-round warm-springs-fed “heated” swimming pool. Long before the modern resorts we know today, Swim was home to a large bathhouse, rental cabins, a toboggan run, and the first Nordic ski jump on Mt Hood. Join the Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum as they step back in time to explore this forgotten chapter of mountain history. The day will start with breakfast and presentations at the museum before the group visits the site of Swim and the original Nordic jump on Mt. Hood.
