Clean, comfortable lodging in an idyllic setting. Lovely.
This review is for a stay at the Reustle Prayer Rock Inn (aka the Carriage House) in Mar, 2022. We 2 stayed three nights. Plenty of room for one or (if one includes the downstairs area) two couples. Very clean. No problems with the Internet over Wi-Fi connection. After we checked in, we were delightfully on our own, having little further contact with the hosts. It was a great base from which to visit additional wineries, an olive orchard, and more. The location is idyllic, down a short winding dirt driveway to the Inn and Tasting Room, in a small valley flanked by pastures and vineyards; during our stay the slopes were lush and green. The nights were refreshingly very dark outside (as there was virtually no outside lighting in sight), and almost the only sounds we heard were those of nature and farm animals. Sheep and small goats were in the nearby pastures, as well as about four (I think) heirloom long-haired horned cattle. Wild turkeys roamed about the vineyards and woods. We were free to walk the grounds, and enjoyed a wonderful view of the valley from the path that ran along the top of the vineyards. A delicious charcuterie dish and scones were waiting for us in the refrigerator when we arrived. Fresh farm eggs were available if one walked out to the henhouse and collected some eggs in the morning: beautiful orange yokes with creamy thick whites. A coffee machine with sufficient coffee for our stay was provided. Wine available for purchase was available in a wine fridge. We brought along food with which to prepare our dinners, and were glad we did. Restaurants were about a 20 minute drive away, and we preferred our own meals to what those restaurants were offering. When we arrived we did a wine tasting of four wines, each paired with an appetizer. The wines were excellent, and went well with the paired food. After arrival we entered the stone tasting room to check in, and then sat outside for our tasting. We found the unique stone building housing the tasting room to be attractive, inside and out.

A nice experience
We found Reustle to be a very nice experience. Our host was knowledgeable and friendly, it was a beautiful facility, inside and outside. The wines were good. Would put at the top of my list for wineries in the Roseburg area.

Extraordinary Wine and Winery
This is a hidden treasure. I lived and worked in Sonoma County, CA and have to disagree with contributor sp4301. As you drive up a wood surrounded hill and crest over the top of the ridge you get a beautiful view of the vineyard. Driving down the hill you come upon some farm animals, see a beautiful small lake with an adjacent guest cottage and owners home to an ample parking lot (there is a small handicap parking area up nest to the winery). From the parking lot you follow a whimsical path to the wine terrace and the tasting room which is a cave in the hillside and newly remodelled. I have to disclose that I am a wine club member since 2014. They do produce some of the best wines in the Umqua Valley and have the trophy awards to prove it! The owners and staff take pride in "knowing" their clientele by first names even if you are not there that often. The private area is reserved for members but are also seating others if not in use and is considered a special area. I have always enjoyed my experience there taking out of the area guests and so far have only gotten praises for this winery from them. We do visit other wineries when we have guests but this one always gets the #1 choice to revisit. We have always been greeted and cared for in the utmost wonderful way. Called to see if we could bring our granddaughter with our group (16 yrs old) and they made a special non-alcoholic drink for her. We have attended concerts and dinners there as well. The owners are spectacular hosts and mingle with all the guests as well enjoy themselves as well!

Fabulous
One of my favorite wineries. The cave is fun, but cold. The staff are always so helpful, happy, and friendly. This is a must stop on a wine tour.

No thanks
The folks here are very impressed by their wine cave. It is all very contrived and not a relaxed tasting experience. Pay the tasting fee first (refunded if you spend $50+) then instead of hanging out at the tasting bar you are moved to a small room in the cave area by yourselves. The guy proudly told us they used the same fake rock designer that Disneyland does to make their cave look... not realistic?! You have to taste at their pace because you’re left in the room with the person/people you come in with... my wife said she felt kidnapped! Mingling with other tasters seemed discouraged. In the room you get three small bites to go with each wine. If you’re the designated driver, you don’t get to partake. Very snobby place trying to feel like Napa but this is the Umpqua and they need to not take themselves so seriously. Couldn’t wait to leave here.
