Rude service and cold food
Went there for lunch on presidents day, as a party of three older adults. We were initially seated in the games area, which was loud and dirty; we politely asked to be reseated in the main restaurant area, which had plenty of availability. After that, we were basically ignored. Servers walked past us multiple times, and when we did manage to order, the server excused herself in the middle of the order to walk away and pour out a whiskey tasting for another table. She came back about five minutes later--really weird. All in all, it took us almost 20 minutes to place our order and another 15 minutes before our drinks (a beer, a soda, and a coffee) arrived. The food, when it came about 20 minutes later (almost 40 minutes after ordering), was ok: the Nashville sandwiches were good, with generous salads; the fish and chips were crispy end-pieces of fish (not much fish to them) and the fries were cold. Generally, the service was surly and felt weirdly hostile, although we were totally polite and patient. Maybe it's just a locals place--we were strangers. Still, it was a frustrating and kind of sad family meal.

Tasty Pub Food
Unexpectedly delicious pub food! Went here for the first time and my husband and I were happy we did! I had the Thai wrap with chicken and my husband got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. While chewing his sandwich he kept saying, “Man, this is delicious!” Service was good and we were there at a busy time on July 4th.

Lunch before a doctor appt
We had a doctor appt in the Dalles and stopped for lunch. We had driven past here numerous times. But we are glad we stopped this time. It was so yummy, fast and very friendly! The menu was awesome and the combo of food was wonderful! The mushroom and tomato soup was incredible as was everything else!

Poor customer service
We literally just left here…stopped for breakfast and bloody marys. We went inside and it didn’t look or sound busy at all. Server finished a few things and then gave us menus, told her we’d sit on the patio. Waited what felt like a good 20 minutes for her to take our order, said her help hadn’t shown up yet. Then she went to the table that came 10 minutes after us. That’s fine. Totally reasonable! But after another 15 minutes, the “help” as she called her, delivered 4 bloody marys to the table that arrived after us and we still hadn’t gotten our two. That’s when I said “nope” and we walked out. Won’t be back. First impressions are a big deal.

A good lunch, even if you’re not there for the drinks
We had lunch at Rivertap during a day trip to The Dalles. To be honest it wasn’t our first choice, largely because the positive reviews focused on the beers rather than the food and none of us were planning on drinking. Fortunately the cuisine proved better than some of the reviews on TripAdvisor suggested. We all went with recommendations made by our server: I had the boxcar burger while the others had the cantina fish tacos. While the service was indeed a little slow, the food made up for it; it was all delicious, and nobody regretted their order.
