Mike’s Ice Cream has been a Hood River landmark for nearly 30 years. In front of the small shop, there are tables & chairs, benches, and grass to sit on while you eat your treats. Watch the busy Hood River tourist scene go by as you enjoy your cone. Open seasonally from May until about October.

Charming, delicious, and fun
This place has been here forever. It has loads of charm. The employees act like they LOVE ice cream. Cash only, so be prepared! Sit on the grass or on a chair or bench in the landscaped grassy area up front. Lots of tiny furniture and a big treehouse for small kids. We got a bowl of raspberry cheescake ice cream and 2 spoons. The employee said it was delicious and she was right!

Slap yo mama good
The best ice cream comes from grass fed Jersey cows fed in lush meadows like in Vermont and coastal Oregon. Mike’s is in Hood River in the shadow of Mt. Hood just outside Portland, OR. The town is really nice and one of the best experiences here is enjoying some of Mike’ Ice Cream! I can vouch for the vanilla and the coconut ( i snitched some of my wife’s when she wasn’t paying attention). Three of the very best ice creams: The Chocolate Barn in Arlington, VT, Tillamook’s and Mike’s in Hood River. Bam! Get you some!

Hygiene need to be controlled
You SHOULD not hold the edible cones in your hand (wrapped actually in your hand ….. see the photo) and then get the cash and go back for more holding food in your hand to sell to people. So, if you say, we’ll get it on a cup, I would say, yes that what I did. The ice cream themselves are good, but not as good as Salt and Straw or even Tillamook. The lines get really long for this shed like shop especially during the nice weather season.

Cool play area
We stopped by Mike's as we had promised our kids some ice cream after a decently long drive from Salem. The outdoor play area here is actually pretty neat and our kids definitely enjoyed their time here. The ice cream was good, but just a heads up, they do not accept credit cards so make sure to bring cash.

One of the best and most generous ice cream treats we've had in a long time
Very cute and small shop, right downtown Hood River. Parking is street side, with meters or pay stations. We knew this is the "spot" when we saw the queue outside. It is definitely popular. After tasting the pistachio and butter pecan, wow both were soooo good. Ended up getting one scoop of the pistachio. My goodness, it is literally two full scoops elsewhere and full of whole pistachios! Also got the K-chips, it has large chocolate chip chunks. Outdoor seating under a large shading tree. Plenty of spaces. It was a great outing.
