Unbeatable price and perfect location
I had heard that this was the place to stay when trying to find hotels online and I couldn't have been happier. The bed and room were comfy and had everything we could have needed and the location is perfect. We ended up walking for so many of our meals because so many of the food cart pods and restaurants are a stones throw away. There's plenty of options for parking and staff eat super helpful in figuring that out for us. It's got such an incredible vibe. The entire place has the energy of Portland's upbeat and community focused atmosphere and it shows everywhere. I couldn't recommend it more.

Solid spot for work or play
Great rooms at NEXT and great service at the front desk, accommodating all I need. I love the location and it's centrality to all Portland has to offer. NEXT has very comfortable rooms with cute views of the city and amenities to support during the stay.

Will not return
The hotel did not inform me at booking that I would have to walk up a flight of stairs to my room and at check in there was no offer to assist me with taking my bag up the stairs. The room smelled like stale cigarettes and there was no coffee pot in the room.

Smelled terrible, heard everything next door, no elevator
At the time reservation was made, I was not told that there was no elevator or that my room opened onto an outdoor hallway. The room smelled like stale cigarettes and trying to sleep with that odor was miserable. There was no coffee pot in the room, which I could live with but having to walk a block for coffee in the morning in 20° weather didn't make up for it. I could hear the conversations of my neighbor, the actual words, not just sound. Don't get me started having to listen to my neighbors activities.

Great retro vibes but a little lacking.
I had been meaning to stay at the Jupiter for a long time and finally got a chance to for a quick visit. I live in Tacoma and wanted to stay overnight rather than drive back. I'm pretty sad the Doug Fir Lounge is still closed. I visited when it was open and had a great time. I hope one day it will re-open, seems like a waste of such a cool space. Had some great bands perform there like .adult! I had to call to get check in time of 4pm, not easy to find on the website. I was surprised check in happens across the street from Jupiter Original. Not very convenient or easy to figure out. Kind of inconvenient that parking is extra, I did the $20 lot but felt that one should be no charge. I had brought my Switch as it's usually easy to hook up to a hotel TV, but I forgot my HDMI cord. When I called the front desk for one it was happily provided and I was very pleased. But then when I went to hook it up I noticed there was no way to access HDMI inputs on the TV. I also found the room lacking due to no fridge and few outlets. I really enjoyed the decor and retro vibes, but I think I'll be looking at trying out a different hotel next time I stay in Portland.
