Adventure Is Always in Season at Sunriver

Whether you visit during the height of summer or come during the snowy winter, you’ll find plenty of fun ways to get out into nature without having to stray far from your new home away from home.

Few things are more inviting than a cool river on a hot summer’s day, and staying at Sunriver Resort means easy access to the refreshing waters of the Deschutes River. Head to the marina for a relaxing float downstream on an inner tube, a kayak or a paddleboard, or grab the kids and climb aboard a raft big enough for the whole family.

Summers aren’t the only time for making a splash at Sunriver. You can swim year-round at the Cove Aquatic Center, which boasts indoor and outdoor pools, thrilling water slides, hot tubs, cabanas and a gentle eddy. Guests staying in Caldera Springs vacation homes can swim in the multiple pools at the Forest House recreation complex, complete with a double-racer waterslide, and then refuel with a cold beverage and fresh snack at the indoor/outdoor Piney’s bar and cafe. Forest House also has an onsite fitness center and a family room with two duckpin bowling lanes. Or head over to The Quarry, which features an infinity pool and two hot tubs with Obsidian Lake views.

If you’d rather stay on dry land, Sunriver Resort has 63 holes of golf across four award winning courses to keep you busy. There’s also a golf academy offering instruction for golfers of different experience levels and an indoor golf simulator for when you’d prefer to enjoy the comfort of the indoors.

For a taste of the West, mosey over to Sunriver’s Stables for a trail ride, or watch your kids get comfortable in the stirrups on a gentle pony ride. For an immersive equestrian experience, sign up for the weekly Wrangler Immersion Camp, and learn the ins and outs of wrangling life. If you come during the snowy winter, you can even take a horse-drawn ride in a Victorian-style sleigh — one of Sunriver Resorts’ beloved holiday traditions, which also include a tree lighting ceremony, holiday light show and celebratory meals.

Sleigh rides aren’t the only adventures in the snow available at Sunriver Resort. You can also rent a pair of snowshoes and head out on a trek, or take a guided snowshoeing excursion through old-growth forests or even under the stars. If you ski or snowboard, leave your car in the parking lot and simply hop on Sunriver’s quick shuttle to nearby Mt. Bachelor to make powder days absolutely seamless. As a preferred lodging partner of the ski resort, Sunriver Resort guests enjoy exclusive discounts on lift tickets and “ski valet” services like overnight gear storage, boot and glove dryers and a daily ski report.

Nourish Your Body and Spirit With Sunriver’s Wellness Offerings

Sunriver Resort’s adventure activities are only a sliver of what the resort has to offer. There are plenty of additional ways to nourish your body and your spirit, all without having to leave the resort. Sunriver Resort has over 40 miles of trails and one of the only paved-trail networks in a U.S. resort, ideal for walking and cycling alike. Bring your own bike or head to the Bike Barn to rent one for the day — or up to six days.

Sunriver Resort is also home to the largest resort pickleball complex in the Pacific Northwest — the Pickleball Pavilion — with 18 indoor and outdoor courts and a viewing area, plus the option for private instruction.

The resort’s Fitness Center is another great place to get active, with a year-round saltwater lap pool, a wide selection of high-end cardio and strength-training equipment, and personal trainers on staff. Pilates classes, yoga, spinning and water-fitness classes are available, too. In the same building as the Fitness Center, The Spa at Sunriver Resort offers a wide array of services, from relaxing massages to renewing facials. There’s even an infrared sauna.

Dine Out or Prepare a Meal in Your Home Away From Home

For many guests, the chance to try world-class cuisine at a variety of different restaurants is one of the best things about Sunriver. Try innovative takes on classic American fare at the Lodge Kitchen, or pop over to Owl’s Nest for hearty pub fare. Both spots have views for miles and offer in-room dining. Alternatively, grab a poolside bite at the Spotted Frog or sit down for Pacific Northwest fare at The Grille at Crosswater. Or head for Lake House for indoor or outdoor dining with commanding views of Mt. Bachelor.

If you prefer whipping up meals yourself, you’ll find all sorts of vacation-home rentals, from condos to sprawling houses equipped with everything you need to feel right at home. Sunriver Resort also offers traditional guest room accommodations for a more hotel-style experience, each complete with private fireplaces and gorgeous views of Sunriver’s natural beauty.
