Oregon has a birthday every Valentine’s Day, and with age comes a beauty that can’t be matched. The same could be said about you. So this year, celebrate your own birthday at these awesome inns, hotels and resorts in Oregon — where a stay can make your day feel extra special.

Places to Celebrate a Birthday With Friends
No matter your thoughts on birthdays, friends and family want to celebrate you, so don’t be shy about inviting them to come mark your momentous voyage around the sun.
McMenamins Edgefield Hotel in Troutdale on the eastern outskirts of Portland has about 100 quirky rooms in a historic 1911 brick estate set on 74 acres with a distillery, brewery, winery, numerous bars, restaurants, a movie theater, fire pits and much more on-site. Having all of your friends stay in one big playhouse is as fun as it gets. If you’re looking to stay closer to the action in Portland, The Society Hotel in Old Town Chinatown and KEX in the Central Eastside offer co-ed bunk rooms as well as private rooms with shared bathrooms reminiscent of Old World guesthouses.
Looking to add some retro-funk to the fun? Book old-school travel trailers at The Vintages in Willamette Valley wine country for the whole birthday party. Choose among amazing vintage options like a 1956 Spartan Royal Mansion with outdoor soaking tub or a retro-designed silver bullet Flyte Camp Neutron, made in Bend. Each of the 34 trailers comes with a barbecue grill and access to free cruiser bikes. Bay Point Landing near Coos Bay also has a collection of parked Airstream trailers you can sleep in as well as clusters of sleek cabins with lots of space for gathering outside around the fire or pool.
Fantastic for kids and awesome for adults, the Out ’n’ About TreeHouse Treesort in Takilma — about 12 miles south of Cave Junction or 40 miles south of Grants Pass — let you celebrate your inner Ewok with more than a dozen treehouses perched as high as 50 feet off the ground. Airy suspension bridges link some of them, while a zip line offers extra thrills.

Places to Celebrate a Birthday With a Significant Other
Getting away with your loved one for a birthday celebration needs to be romantic, fun and unique. You’ll find all three in Southern Oregon. Book one of the 38 rooms and bungalows at Ashland’s Lithia Springs Resort and you can soak in artisanal waters that burble up from beneath the resort and into your own soaking tub. You’ll find romantic nooks to whisper sweet nothings in an aspen grove, an outdoor pool and a wine garden during the warmer months. In town, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival celebrates its own birthday of 90 years in 2025. Time your visit to catch the Bard’s great rom-com “As You Like It.”
Just pulling up to the Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard atop a rise in the Red Hills of Dundee, in the Willamette Valley, is enough to set the tone for a spectacular stay with a loved one. Stay at the adjacent Grange Estate, a private residence with spacious, luxurious rooms that afford sweeping views of the vineyards. Be sure to book a dinner at the on-site, 14-seat Anthology restaurant, where two chefs working in an open kitchen right before our eyes took us through a tasting menu themselves. To stay, I had to sign up for a free winery membership — a small, painless formality for an exquisitely romantic stay.
Looking for something a little less showy where you and yours can unplug and relax? Try the modern-chic Little Brick Building in Joseph. This studio-like building, built in 1910, has a full kitchen, a roomy soaking tub surrounded by pink Venetian plaster, and lots of natural light in a sunroom that is great for starting off the day. Across the street, you’ll find The Jennings Hotel, where each room was individually designed by regional artists.

Places to Celebrate a Milestone Birthday
Whether you’re turning 30 or 100, milestone birthdays are a great excuse to go big. Everyone should stay at least once at the Timberline Lodge, high on the flanks of Mt. Hood. The historic, sprawling lodge opened in 1938 and has only upped its magic over the decades. The lodge has jaw-dropping views of ski slopes running down Oregon’s highest volcano and a lobby so cool you’ll want to chill by the massive rock fireplace. The property’s outdoor hot tub and pool — at 6,000 feet in elevation, the highest pool in the Northwest — were recently renovated.
On the Coast, the Salishan Coastal Lodge sits in the heart of the Coastal Range near Siletz Bay, and it features rooms designed to soothe with natural tones and balconies overlooking the lush forest. Embrace your youthful side on the bike-skills course or take a hike on the 250 acres threaded with trails. In the Willamette Valley, The Allison Inn & Spa bills itself as a secluded paradise for good reason: The property sits on 35 acres with 77 deluxe rooms and eight suites that all have access to a spa with a pool and a private garden area with a waterfall.
