Come out and play David McLay Kidd’s latest masterpiece.

Created in the Scottish Heathlands style, Tetherow has all the elements of a links golf course with wonderful vistas of the Cascade Mountain Range. For a limited time, you may play Tetherow Golf Club without the required overnight stay.

Fescue grasses cover the entire property and blend wonderfully with the native volcanic rock and rolling topography. There is plenty of movement on the greens at Tetherow. They will accept a ball played in the Scottish style, along the ground, or welcome shots from high in the sky. Ball placement is critical to leave yourself with a reasonable attempt to hole putts of any length.

    Beautiful golf course but guests cannot play early

    Beautiful accommodations in the Cascades overlooking the first tee box, quiet mornings on the balcony due to lack of golfers. Inquired about securing an early tee time and was informed times for resort guests are not available until after 10 am at the earliest, members are given early times everyday. This is not stated anywhere on the website that I could see. First round tee time was played after 12 pm. Choice for your visit to Bend is a late round of golf or day of seeing the town. Not both…

    Undulations everywhere, tremendous character, excellent fairways and greens— what you expect from David McClay Kidd

    If you have played Bandon Dunes or Gamble Sands you know what to expect here. This is a scenic gem. You need to play it more than once because there are some blind shots. The undulations in the fairways and at the green complexes make playing here just plain fun. It is all about the ground game. You can chip or putt from 20-25 yards off the greens as the fairways and fringes are tight fescue. No hole looks like any other— some go up, some down, some have water, some have waste areas. Greens fast (about 10.5) and smooth.

    We won't be back.

    This golf course was in great shape but it is not for the average golfer or even an above average golfer. Blind tee shots and huge over exaggerated undulating fast greens are not too much fun. If you finally hit a green, you will probably find a buried elephant or two between you and hole. Impossible to 2 putt if you are not on the proper part of the green. Lots of steep false fronts and lots of unkept natural grass mounds in the middle of the fairways, which seems really stupid to me. Lots of service people in the clubhouse but it was tough to get a drink. But the real kick in the teeth came when the server asked us if we would like a few more chips to finish off the salsa and guacamole we had ordered at no charge. When the chips did not show up, we reminded her about her them and she told us that the manager put the nix on that. We had just spent about $1500 at the facility for breakfast, golf and post round cocktails and appetizers, but that manager wasn't about to give up 50 cents worth of crummy chips. We won't be back.

    Don’t care about behavior and etiquette

    The views are beautiful. But, there was a foursome of four guys playing loud music, singing and dancing on the course. They were obviously drunk at 5:00 pm. I called for the marshal but no one ever came. I have never seen anything like that on an expensive golf course.

    Way below expectations

    Course must be desperate for revenue. Did not tell us greens were recently punched. Tried to get a $245 refund after the first hole, they refused. 8:55am tee time, Golf shop did not open until 8:00am, by the time we paid and got our clubs on the cart, we had 35 minutes to warm up. Would like to have had more time. Golf course review: A lot of blind shots on the course, severe undulations on the greens. Will not play again, too many goofy holes.
