An Indigenous owned bookstore specializing in new and used books written by Indigenous authors. The shop’s mission is to celebrate Indigenous voices, support Indigenous storytellers, and make their work more accessible to communities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Sahaptin Stories owner Casandra Hanson is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and a proud mother above all else. A lifelong learner with a deep passion for Indigenous studies, advocacy, and storytelling, Casandra has dedicated her career to uplifting Native voices and strengthening early learning opportunities for Indigenous children and families.
Casandra’s mission is to encourage early literacy, celebrate Indigenous authors and storytellers, and ensure that the stories, teachings, and histories of Native peoples are not forgotten but carried forward with pride. Through her work, she strives to create spaces where Indigenous knowledge is honored, children feel seen, and future generations remain connected to their roots.
