Crater Rock Museum has been in Central Point since it was founded in 1954 by Frieda and Delmar Smith. It’s now a 12,000 square foot facility, housing world class exhibits and one of the top displays of gems, minerals, fossils, and archeology on the West Coast. And of course, there’s more! The last expansion included a huge gift shop, additional meeting rooms, and a top-notch lapidary workshop. Crater Rock Museum invites you to include a stop to the museum in your travel plans. You will be glad you did!

Fabulous mineral museum
this was quite a surprise, best rock and mineral exhibits I have ever seen. Gift shop alone is amazing, with very good quality of items. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. The museum is cheap, and well worth it. Lovely Navaho, and Indian exhibits too. Don't miss this one

A Must See Rock Museum
This was the first time I've visited Crater Rock Museum. Being a rock hound for over forty years I was very excited to see their displays. I was not disappointed. This is a world class museum with rooms and rooms full of every kind of rock possible as well as prehistoric fossils in several of them. I was truly fascinated. Due to lack of time my visit was much shorter than I wanted it to be. As I live less than 60 miles away, I'm planning on returning to spend much more time walking through the museum. So much to see and learn! Also the gift shop is full of a huge variety of polished, unpolished and natural rocks/crystals. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Loved it and, of course, couldn't leave without a few beautiful mementos. I highly recommend visiting this museum and gift shop. Be sure to allow several hours so you're not rushed and can truly enjoy all that there is to see and learn. On;y five stars allowed?? Nope............I give it ten stars.

Displays not to be missed by rock enthusiasts or those who want to learn more. Great place for kids too.
Is there anyone who hasnt picked up a rock that caught their eye and wondered where it came from? Great displays, and wide variety of excellent specimens. Will catch the imagination of kids to adults. This is a stop not to be missed. Particularly enjoyed a tour of the well equipped lapidary shop. Followed by filling a bucket with rocks for $5.
