About Stargazing Event

The Morrow County Parks Department is excited to announce its inaugural Stargazing Event, taking place April 17–19 at the Morrow County OHV Park. Families, outdoor enthusiasts, and night-sky lovers are invited to gather for a weekend celebrating the beauty of Oregon’s remarkable night skies during Dark Skies Week (April 13–20).

Located just within the largest dark skies area in the state of Oregon, the park offers exceptional nighttime viewing conditions. While not a certified Dark Sky Sanctuary, the park has taken thoughtful measures to make the area dark-sky friendly by implementing responsible lighting practices—creating an ideal setting for observing stars, planets, and celestial events.

Attendees are asked to bring their own telescopes, binoculars, and stargazing equipment, along with camping gear for a full outdoor and immersive night sky experience. In addition to open sky viewing, the weekend will feature astronomy presentations designed to help attendees learn more about the constellations, planets, and celestial events visible in the dark skies above Morrow County. Reservations are required for overnight stays. Participants must register to secure accommodations.

Please register in advance at Morrow County Parks website.
