The World Athletics Championships Oregon22 (July 15-24, 2022) are coming to Eugene this summer in what will be the world’s largest sporting event of the year. It will be the first time in history that the track and field championships are held in the United States. The esteemed event will bring more than 2,000 athletes from 200-plus countries to compete at one of the finest running tracks in Eugene, Oregon, known as TrackTown USA.

The event will be held at University of Oregon’s newly renovated Hayward Field, full of state-of-the-art facilities for athletes and coaches and seating for up to 30,000 spectators. Hayward Field has a history of hosting elite international events, welcoming six U.S. Olympic Team Trials, the annual Prefontaine Classic, multiple USATF Outdoor Championships and the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships through 2022.

Visitors to Hayward Field will find stellar amenities including comfortable seats, spectacular sight lines and intimacy to the competition. There’s also a giant Visual Experience Board that spotlights the action on a 5,080 square-feet video screen, making it the largest permanent video screen for a track and field stadium in the country. The board also features a perforated metal image of legendary UO coach Bill Hayward, blending past and present and serving as a welcoming gesture to fans arriving from Powell Plaza.
