About Exhibition Match

Exhibition Match is turning a vacant storefront adjacent to Providence Park into a month-long public art exhibition exploring the intersection of art and sports. The show is the second iteration of the No Vacancy Window Gallery, a program that activates empty ground-floor spaces with contemporary art visible day and night through the building’s exterior windows. Free and open to all.

In competitive sports, an exhibition match is an event that does not count toward official standings, records, or championship titles. An opportunity to play for entertainment, practice, or charity; to demonstrate skills, stay fresh, and take risks. Exhibition Match carries that spirit with eleven artists activating a vacant space to experiment, play, and show up for the Portland art community. Anchored by two public events timed to Portland Arts Week, Exhibition Match draws foot traffic and energy into a space that would otherwise sit empty, bringing together The Civic residents, sports fans, and Portland’s art community.
