About Doomsday Clock: A Cold War Night Carnival

This summer, rewind back to a simpler time — a time of day-glo, material girls, and the ever looming threat of nuclear destruction at Doomsday Clock: A Cold War Night Carnival.

Count down the seconds to doomsday, embrace your inner capitalist, or travel Back…To the Future with this four-hour celebration of all things 1980s. Watch as the Berlin Wall falls again, bathe in the neon glow of your favorite aerobics instructor (right from the comfort of your own home), and remember not to feed your mogwai after midnight as you watch some of Portland’s best alternative performing artists take the stage.

Cowabunga, dude! This costume party and variety show invites you to visit some of your favorite retro pop-culture properties, historic events, and queer icons in this four-hour costume and cocktail party. Inspired by 1980s history, culture, and media, Doomsday Clock is a party for He-Man fans, Madonna stans, and Reagan haters alike. Come dressed as your favorite 1980s icon, character, or concept and enjoy totally radical original cocktails from The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven mixologists Myrrh Larsen and Megan Skye Hale, far-out wares from featured local vendor, and snap a photo of your fly outfit at the old-skool selfie station.

The Night Carnival 2026 series is funded in part by the Regional Arts and Culture Council and the Arts Access Fund.

“Be kind, rewind.”
