Go on a lovely evening walk around the Slabtown neighborhood with mixed-media paper, ink pads, and plasticine clay, on the hunt for textures and shapes to make interesting imprints. Once your pages are full, head back to the studio and turn them into zines. Gathering texture and shape imprints will help inform your art practice, plus it’s a ton of fun to push your observation skills in new directions. A texture walk with Church of Art is also a great way to explore Slabtown on a lovely summer Portland evening when it stays light out past 9 p.m.
