About Stangeland Vineyards & Winery

Stangeland, an Oregon Craftsman winery with vines planted in 1978, sits on a beautiful hilltop in the Eola hills, NW of Salem. Pronounced Stang land, meaning “strong land” the name comes from the owners maternal Norwegian heritage.

Dedicated to limited production Pinot noir from estate and select single vineyards and small lots of Pinot gris, Chardonnay & Gewurztraminer, Stangeland is truly an undiscovered gem. The vineyard’s three international Gold medals in Europe attest to their commitment of creating world class wines.

The vineyard offers great rural views and friendly staff.

only did we taste good wines but visited with high school classmate! Owners are friendly and knowledgeable. And, yes, bought wine!

Great Pinot Gris!~

This small welcoming ‘vineyard’ has a Nordic theme. We enjoyed hearing the history and origins of the wines... and appreciated the casual, friendly atmosphere of the tasting centre. There’s a $5.00 tasting fee. We shared the tasting... and the cost. A 2012 Pinot Gris was enjoyed by everyone present. Apparently it’s on special, if buying a case. With a flight out of Vancouver imminent, we bought just one bottle... .

Had to go 2 times on our trip

We loved the great wines he had on the way from California to Canada that we returned the,way home. Thanks for the hospitality also !!! We purchased wine glasses that have your name on them and use them often to remember how fine your wine is and share them with our friends !!! Thanks again , will be there again some day.

Top Shelf not included in tasting flight

We had an average experience at tasting. The drive up featured a lovely view but the tasting room is closed off from this and there wasn't outdoor seating available. The tasting associate talked about awards for their pinot but none of these were on the tasting flight. There were MANY wines on the tasting flight for a smaller fee than other vineyards, so that was positive. The tasting room associate didn't know how long the bottles had been open and many had fruit fies in them (It's an understandable thing, but still kind of nasty). BUT he provided some of the best conversation that we've had in OR wine country!

Beautiful vineyard with great wine

One of my favorites we visited during our wine hop. So many varieties!! I'm not a Chardonnay lover but their Chardonnay is great! Staff were lovely and grounds were beautiful!
