Good breakfast
One of my mom’s favorite places so brought me here while I was in town. Taco omelette was very good, home made bread toast was very good also. Highly recommend!

Gramma's Home cooking
Oh wow! Corn fritter pork loin. Obrien spuds home made bread. Customer service amazing! Hubby had monte cristo and loved it. Ice tea...yummy 😋 Outside and inside seating. Does not serve dinner.

The patience of a big crowd on a rainy Saturday doesn’t lie - Tater’s is worth the wait!
Tater’s Cafe has a fabulous and expansive patio seating area… that sadly can’t be utilized when the rain gets too fierce. And on a recent rainy Saturday, a longer-than-usual wait couldn’t dissuade the folks who know it’s one of the best breakfast spots in Dallas! It was recommended to us by my cousin who lives there - and clearly well known by all the locals. My friend and I got lucky and arrived before the real rush. We shared one of Tater’s giant, fluffy pancakes and a delicious veggie omelet (that the kitchen kindly split into two plates for us - thank you!) The food arrived piping hot and the friendly team of servers worked together to make sure we had everything we needed (a different option for hot sauce, jams for toast, etc.) Plus, the space is adorable - it’s a spot with a happy, warm, cheerful vibe. Thank you, Tater’s Cafe! We forward to trying out the patio next time.

Children not welcome at Tater's
I'be been going to Tater's for several years and there has never been an issue. I usually express my displeasure with a business by simply not returning. However, the egregious actions by an employee during my visit on January 5, 2025 with my grandsons (5 and 7) was so blatant I felt other potential customers should be aware. As stated I was with my grandsons and they were looking forward to having french toast. The restaurant was busy when we arrived and there was a wait list. In front of us was a group of 4 and a couple. The group of four was seated a few minutes after we arrived. One of the tables that became available after we arrived was a table for 2. I assumed that the couple in front of us would get the table for 2 but instead the older of the 2 waitresses waited for a larger table to open up and gave the couple that table. When she did that the young lady that was acting as busperson/hostess looked at the table for 2, looked at me and then looked at the older waitresses in disbelief. She looked back at me and shook her head. Her actions told me she was surprised that the couple wasn't seated at the table for 2. After several minutes my grandsons and I were seated at a table for 4. The busperson/hostess brought us drinks quickly. After we were seated the restaurant started to get less crowded rather quickly. Even though there was a busperson and dishwasher on duty the older waitress, instead of waiting on my grandsons and I, felt a need to start cleaning the several empty tables instead of waiting on customers even though there was no customers waiting to be seated. While we were setting at our table waiting to order another couple came in and were seated immediately. After being seated the younger waitress went to their table to take their order. It was at this point that I got up and decided to leave. My grandsons were not very happy that they weren't getting to finish their hot chocolate or get french toast. I went to the counter to pay and the older waitress asked, as sweetly as possible, "Did you enjoy your meal?", knowing very well that we had not ordered or eaten any food. She was being as sarcastic as possible. I told her that I just wanted to pay for 2 hot chocolates and a coffee. She refused to take my credit card although I kept insisating that she let me pay. She wouldn't take the card and I only had $4 cash on me which I left on the counter. I'm not sure why she wouldn't let me pay. She may have seen that I was upset but I didn't say anything to her about what I considered INTENTIONAL bad service. To me it was obviously intentional. The reason? When we first came into the restaurant there is a very small area to wait. The older waitress, from across the room, in a very loud voice, told me to make sure the children did not block the door. I acknowledged that I would do that. She acted like a person who believes children should be "seen and not heard". My grandsons were not making very much noise and they were just looking at all of the items that are just inside the front door.

Best Breakfast
This is a great little restaurant. Always crowded and always very good food. Went for breakfast every morning, the vege omlette is so good, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, all so good. Portions are big. Better be hungry!
