Good food
I have been going here for years and never had a problem with the food or service. It is a small quaint place, family owned, the food has always been very good. We get the teriyaki chicken bowls. Sushi, egg rolls.

Great Spot!
I regularly travel to Coos Bay for business and my consistent go to spot is Summins! Excellent Poki salad! Fresh fish, I would be able to tell you very quickly if it was not fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent Food and Big Servings
We ordered the Family Dinner for two, which came with a salad or soup; a large plate of appetizers, combination fried rice; chow mein; and chicken teriyaki. If that sounds like a lot of food, it was for the two of us and the food was excellent. We had enough food to take back to our hotel to have another full meal for the two of us. We really enjoyed the combination fried rice. Service was pretty good, although the staff did not check in on us during the meal to see if we needed anything (just came by to take our order, deliver our food, and give us our bill). I would recommend this place and will come back here again if we ever return to Coos Bay.

Get what you pay for
Been going to Sumin's for more than 20 years. Love that it is a family owned business. The quality of food has gone down hill since the pandemic! I NEVER eat imitation CRAB! I know when I ask for real crab I will pay extras for the real stuff! I have personally seen how the imitation Krab is made. Family is retired commercial fisherman. Pacific whiting, (hake) is a fish that goes into the fish plant a fish and comes out a white powder. The white powder is then made into imitation krab! Also, who's idea to chop up the tuna into mush for the spicy tuna roll? I have never had it that way and now know why! Super gross! Willing to try again BUT will be checking with sushi chef before ordering! Service was good but nothing offered in way of appetizers which used to be free. Willing to pay but not even offered anymore!

Lunch at Sumin's
Stopped in for lunch. Service was a bit standoffish to start, but once contact was made, very friendly and helpful. Had to get up to go get more water to drink. Lunch portions were big. The bento box can feed two adults easily, and will fill a hungry man's stomach working solo. Not special food, but tasty. The potstickers were fried. Good, but not the traditional potstickers of Asian cuisine. The tempura batter was thicker than typical tempura. The fried California roll was quite interesting. Next time will ask to leave sauce on the side; the bites later in the meal had a mushy and soft crust.
