Overpriced with awful menu choices and food
My husband and I had our wedding reception at the hotel in 2012 and we’ve stayed at the hotel and ate at this restaurant ever year ever since. But 2023 will be our last year here. The menu used to be high class with steelhead, high end steaks and other seafood dishes. Now, it consists of an overpriced burger, tough cheap sirloin steak that’s inedible, and fish and chips that’s mostly made of soggy batter and hardly any fish. The food tastes terrible, is cheap, and it’s way overpriced. It’s almost laughable for a hotel of this class. Very few people dine in this restaurant anymore and now we know why. What a shame.

Lovely service, I'll be back!
Beautiful location, great service and tasty food. I've lunched here many times and was fortunate enough to get the same great server for Brunch, a lovely woman named Michal. She was attentive and quick to get us whatever we asked for. We were a party of 5. so there were a variety of requests. The restaurant went out of their way to accommodate us with a large table due to our special needs.

Understaffed, slow and disappointing
The restaurant appeared to be completely understaffed. The ambiance of the lounge was modern and inviting but the experience was spoiled by stacks of dirty dishes on the bar. After pushing over used glassware and being served a drink, I had to ask the server to wipe down the portion of the bartop in front of us. Moving on to the dining room, I was disappointed not to see any salmon or othe fresh fish fillet on the menu at this Columbia River Gorge restaurant. The choices were limited and we chose pasta and elk chili with a side salad. The price of the pasta was unreadible on the menu. When I asked the price, the serve gave me a lower price than the actual charge. Despite ordering basic items, we had to wait almost an hour for the food. Sadly, it was slow and ordinary.

Excellent Dining Experience
Our dining experience at Simon’s Cliff House restaurant in the Columbia Gorge Hotel was excellent. We had reservations and were immediately seated. The table had a white table cloth, by a window overlooking the Columba River. Frank Sinatra was playing in the background and it was as if we stepped back into the 50’s. A warm Brie cheese with pear appetizer was delicious. The sirloin steak was over an inch and a half thick and cooked to perfection. The BBQ ribs fell off the bone. The baked salmon was cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely not worth it
Very disappointing! One of us ordered the fish n Chips. Overly battered and tasteless. I only ate about 1/2. Fries were bland. Slaw was terrible. Best thing on the plate were the onion rings. One of us ordered the Wind Burger. Dry and overcooked. Tasteless. Absolutely not worth it. Decor is cheap - almost cafeteria style. Certainly not what one would expect at a $300/night, historic, hotel! We opted to eat outside on the patio. Not clean. Rickety table/chairs. We are here for 2 nights and will go into town for all other meals.
