Surprisingly good food and drinks in a downtown hotel
The Roam restaurant inside the Oxford Hotel is not on many locals' radar for dinner in downtown Bend. It should be. My wife and I were working in the yard all day and decided to have an impromptu dinner out. I suggested Roam and we had a great meal. Roam has a short menu focusing on locally sourced, but global cuisine. First off, the bartender here knows how to make excellent cocktails. My wife's cosmo was perfect and my gin and tonic was filled with sliced cucumber, rose petals, and a large amount of juniper berries. The appetizer of tempura green beans and spicy sauce was superb. Her two wagyu sliders were savory and my 8oz burger and truffle fries was tasty and more than I could eat. Don't be put off by the empty tables here. This is a great place to have a simple and relaxing meal in downtown Bend.

Our experience today.
Service started out great! Then when our food arrived. The caprese came with no olive oil or basil. Those 2 missing ingredients were listed as the ingredients on the menu. The turkey club came and the menu showed it came with maple aioli. It came dry as a bone. No aioli. Nothing came on the side. My husband ordered a mimosa and I ordered a white wine. We enjoyed our drinks waiting for the food. We still had a small amount of our beverage left when the meal was served. Our server never came back to ask how our food was. We could not find our server. The server never came back to offer more beverage until we were long finished with our meal, with no beverage to enjoy with the meal. There was one other table in the entire dining room and bar. The time of day was a bit after 1pm. There were 2 other people working visible from our table. They were on their phone doing nothing most of our entire meal.

Excellent food, medium price point in Bend, OR
Went for my birthday tonight, our 1st time there. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Brussel sprouts appetizer, which was cooked perfectly, but a little sweet for my taste. My wife enjoyed her Kung Pao cauliflower, but I want to talk about the smoked chicken. It was truly excellent. Wonderful smoky-but-not-overwhelming flavor, even the white meat was moist and tender, and the skin was shatteringly crisp. A good dish, perfectly executed. Will absolutely be back.

So So Choice!!!!
Food and wine/beer was really expensive and not that great. The hotel is fabulous though. Happy hour is from 2-5 during the week but if you show up at 1:45 the server won’t give you a heads up to wait a few minutes. Really average place. Lots of choices for a late lunch in downtown Bend.

Somewhat underwhelming
Service was great and the menu looked promising. We shared a starter of Brussel sprouts- a surprising offering as I wouldn’t consider them a summer veg. They were tasty but more crispy than I’ve ever had them. It was a very generous serve. The mushroom ragu was also generous and tasty. The sumac salmon meal was disappointing. The salmon was over cooked - dry and bland with no discernible sumac flavour. It was served on saffron quinoa which looked pretty but was watery, unsalted and tasteless. The asparagus was delicious apart from the piece which had not been trimmed and was tough and inedible. If asparagus is snapped where it naturally wants to snap it will always be perfectly tender. Lastly, the ‘herb salad’ was a large bunch of unchopped parsley with no dressing. I like parsley but it needs to be chopped and mixed with other greens. It cannot be passed off as a salad straight from the garden!
