Worst food ever
Other than the sangria, which was tasty, the food was awful. The chips were rancid, we ate a few and should have said something. The table next to us actually did say something, they told the waiter the chips were bad and he didn’t blink an eye, apologized and brought out more chips which were equally as bad. That should have been our clue to leave, right there. I ordered the chili rellenos, and I’m not sure what they were wrapped in, certainly not a fluffy egg coating, it was more like a bland crepe? They were covered with an unbelievably thick coat of cheese and a sauce that was nothing like I’ve ever had on chili rellenos before. I couldn’t even stomach a quarter of my serving. My wife ordered a taco salad with shredded beef. It arrived in a rancid oil flavored taco bowl that actually oozed oil onto her plate. Wilted lettuce too, just GROSS. She couldn’t finish hers either. Our biggest problem is that we were too polite to complain. I got out of the hospital the day before, and we were both just too tired to object to the terrible food. But we have a solution, NEVER AGAIN.

V Good and consistent!
V Good MX restaurant! We go there perhaps 3-5 times per year …. for 8 years now. Always have enjoyed! We typically order chile rellenos, chimichangas, or shrimp fajitas …. always with Margie’s on rocks, sometimes “cadilac’ed”! 😉

Food was fine. Service excellent.
First time at Puerto Vallarta in Coos Bay. Decor looks like a typical version of what Americans think Mexican restaurants look like. Past that....Service was great. Very attentive. Friendly. Drink and salsa, chips refills. Excellent. Now the food. For the table, chips, salsa and a small plate of refried beans. Surprisingly, the beans were good. The chips warm. The salsa - eh. Chunky liquid. No heat. I would have blended it all together and please add some jalapeños or serranos. New place, always get the cheese enchiladas. You can tell they were warmed up under a broiler. Rice was fine, not special. The daily special - carnitas de res - was okay. It was beef with green peppers and onions in a sauce. Okay. No need to get them again. Now, the guacamole. Ugh! Disgusting. I love guacamole. Love it! This stuff? Not even sure it was avocado. In the photo attached, the guacamole was bring green. Never have I ever seen guac that green! Food dye? There was a consistency that I can't describe, almost gritty. I asked the waiter for the ingredients, and they all seemed normal ingredients for guac, but this batch. Yuck. took one bite and that was it. Overall pricing was good. $5 imported beer. Lunch special under $10. We'll be back for sure, just know we know what not to eat again.

Average Mexican Restaurant. Good Service.
I got the Arroz con Pollo. It was decent but seemed to have a lot of vinegar in the mix. Everyone else seemed okay, including a child who chose french fries as a side. So, if you are on the Oregon coast without any inclination to eat fresh seafood, but you prefer so so Mexican food, this is the place for you. Service was excellent and they gave us some extras for being there. If I were in Nebraska, I would probably give this a half or one star more. On the Oregon coast I expect more fresh seafood offerings.

Skip the margarita
Large portions and enjoyed the flavors. Combination plates offer a lot of variety and are fairly priced. Only thing I was disappointed with was the regular margarita just did not have a tart flavor
