Very nice server. The food was terrible, very low quality and very expensive. We received two napkin and silverware rollup both napkins were dirty. So we asked for paper napkins. It's definitely an ownership issue. The dining room chairs, windows and carpets are very dirty.

Really good seafood
I can't believe the negative reviews. I have never been there for lunch but always for dinner. Moved to Oregon 13 years ago and have been going there at least once a month. I have never had bad food and service is very good, to good, depending on who you get. The first time we went there was on vacation in 2003. We were camping and thought we would give it a try. The food was excellent. Through the years until we moved here, we would drive with our folks from Eugene to eat there and we would drive up from Brookings Oregon during our fishing trips to eat there. I don't take quality in food lightly and I was raised on excellent food. I am a very good cook and I know quality and this restaurant has never disappointed me. I usually order the Captains platter and the wife orders fish and chips and she and I both feel that it is the lightest tasting and no grease for deep fried fish we can find that melts in your mouth and we eat at the best restaurants and this is one of them. I am really disappointed in the negative reviews I am reading and cannot understand why. Look at TripAdvisor and see my over 500 reviews across the USA and multiple states and all kinds of food. I have over one million hits and responses of thank you from people who have read my reviews and liked what they ate including glad we listen to you and not the reviews. I am in no way affiliated with any restaurant and if the restaurant is bad I will say it. Hardly any of the restaurants I have visited all across the United States have five stars from me and I have always rated this as a five star restaurant. You will be disappointed if you don't give them a try. If you find something different please list it as This Guy Was Wrong. I doubt that will be the case.

I would pass on this restaurant
Disappointed! At $32.00 a plate which isn't bad for seafood pasta I would expect silverware. NOPE Plastic utensils and a paper plate. Flavor was mediocre at best. Wife had beef pasta something. It was ok. We won't be back.

Dishwasher is thief
I took my wife out to dinner for a late mother’s day treat since I had to work on Mother’s Day. I took her and my grandson to one of our favorite restaurants, the Portside out in Charleston, we got there just a little after 8:00 pm and they close at 8:30 pm but they were kind enough to let us in even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, our waitress, Jessica was really nice and didn’t hurry us through dinner and we spent just a little over an hour there and had had an exceptional dinner, we requested doggy bags and she brought us our bill which came to $96.10. so I placed five $20 bills plus two $5 bills and a $1 bill plus a dime on the tray totaling $111.10 giving her a $15 tip. So on my way out I spy the elderly gentleman and asked if he was the cook, turns out he is the dish washer and he gets the cook for me, so I tip the cook $10 and compliment him on the meal. When I turn around to leave I see the dishwasher over by our table where we had just sat and the waitress up at front telling my wife happy late Mother’s Day, so I tell her the payment and her tip is back on the table, she said she was going back to get it right now, I step out the front and there’s this little black and white kitty begging for food so I’m giving her a piece of my fish when Jessica the waitress comes out saying we have a problem,. She shows me the bill and says it’s $96.10 but there’s only three $20 bills here that’s not enough, I said what ! That’s B.S. I told Jessica I know for a fact that I put five $20 bills on that tray because my wife handed them to me, I told her the dishwasher must have taken them, she said I’ve known him for a long time and I really don’t think he would do anything like that, I held to the fact that I/we weren’t cheating them, then she said I’m sure we can work something out, but I really don’t think he would’ve done that. So I said well , we will just call the police and get down here and let them straighten this out, (but there was some colorful words) added, then all of a sudden the dishwasher gives her two $20 bills and said he found it on the floor, yeah right. Big mistake on my part for not taking the cash up to Jessica in the first place, but being the only patrons in the restaurant who would of thought an employee would be stealing money . Be careful at the Portside. No more will I recommend it…
