Fair to middling food at Michelin star prices
Food was ok, but very overpriced. $66 for a cioppino.$19 for a bowl of chowder. $25 for a burger. “Bread service” which consisted of a small bowl of focaccia, cost $9, without refills. A fish dish of breaded petrale sole was nicely presented with the fish resting on a bed of asparagus. At $38, it was the most affordable fish on the menu. The salmon was priced at $49. Service was slow. Our server, Mary Jane, was affable and as attentive as possible, but the had too many tables to wait upon. All of the staff seemed overworked. For the money they charge, one would think they’d be offering a gourmet fine dining experience. They aren’t.

Great food but service and atmosphere are a DUD
My husband and I were out for an intimate dinner, after 4 years of dealing with aging parents in 2 states, to celebrate my homecoming and birthday. Dressed elegantly, the wait staff didn't pick up that we wanted a quiet romantic atmosphere and we were seated in the main dining hall which was buzzing with loud casual diners and bar customers. The acoustics were unbearable, reverberating off the cold hard surfaces and vaulted ceiling, feeling more like a cafeteria. It was after 7pm and the fireplace which is a huge focal point wasn't even lit the whole time we were there. The food was great, but I would not bother to go there again. After my plate was empty, the wait staff stopped, recognized I was finished but didn't clear my plate. Both wait staff were engaged with another couple gossiping, discussing plans for something happening at the Dory in Cloverdale instead of focusing on their job. BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT Service and atmosphere are a DUD.

Great Views, Upscale food but Casual
Staying at the headlands, we ate at this restaurant several times. Very small including bar seating but great views. They handled Labor Day weekend well including a power outage. Soup is wonderful and crab cakes were great. Halibut was good but wished there was just a tad more sauce. The purées were great. Lemon ricotta pancakes and chopped salad at brunch were great but the favorite was the berry crepes.. Cocktails were a definite highlight. Loved the Lemon posette. You definitely need a reservation if it’s during a busy summer weekend.

Ocean View Amazing
We went for a glass of wine, Prisoner Unshakled cab $22. We ended up having dinner. We ordered the chopped salad with salmon $38 and the 2 crab cakes with small salad $41. The salads had vinegarette on them. We weren't given a choice of dressing. The meal was pretty good. The guy singing & playing guitar was not great, couldn't understand him, mumbled. The view of the ocean waves was amazing!!

Pitiful expensive salad
The $22 salad of stone fruit and heirloom tomatoes was awful. Both were hard as rocks. The pesto was tasty, but a stingey portion.
