I read some of the negative reviews on this bar. Our lunch experience was far different. The cod sandwich I had was excellent and plentiful and my wife’s wrap was also excellent. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent and very friendly. Yes, the food did take awhile to arrive but it doesn’t pretend to be a fast food place & we were not not in a hurry on vacation so it was no big deal. The bar has been around since 1890 ( at least most of it) which we found very cool. We recommend it!
Don’t let club “shabby chic” interior fool you. This place has SERIOUS great food. We had homemade Mac & cheese, fresh fruit and fish and chips. All were excellent, and we cleaned our plates. The only reason I couldn’t give 5 stars was the LOUD rock music. It was impossible to talk. And judging by the age of the clientele (old duffers, me included) it likely wasn’t their music, either.
Came to Mac's for dinner because of the positive reviews but my experience was far from positive. First, it was shivering cold inside on a chilly, rainy night made worse every time the door opened. So the atmosphere gets a failing mark. Service was initially adequate but much of my French Dip Beef sandwich -- about half -- was literally inedible (and it was pretty skimpy for $13 to begin with). I called this to the attention of an employee making the rounds and even showed her the pile of inedible meat I pulled from the sandwich. She was going to follow up on it, so she said, but instead our original server came out with the check. I was looking forward to a nice dinner but that didn't happen and the service was just as bad as the food.
We stopped into Mac's Place after our hike at Silver Falls. We were craving a hardy lunch. I ordered the Crab Cake Mac & Cheese & it was delish. Large serving... took home half, yum! My hubby ordered the Rueben Sandwich with fries. It was tasty enough but there was hardly any corned beef on it. Supposed to be 6oz... there was probably 2oz??? It was like they ran out & used the scraps to make it? Back to the positive, our server Jordan was great 👍
One of two places we ate in Silverton with a deck overlooking pebble-bottomed Silver Creek as it rolls through town. Pretty simple pub faire, but the burger was darn delicious.
