We come from Jalisco, a beautiful place in Mexico where tequila was born and where the rhythm of the mariachi was first heard.

Delightful spot to eat outdoors or inside
This family owned business is one of our favorite spots to go. They have a marvelous variety of dishes to pick from and have daily specials. Depending on your preference, hot or cold, their ceviche is very good and filling. I love their rellenos and their tamales which they make themselves. Everything is awesome...including their salsa and their fresh quacamole. Carlos (father or son) and Diego are often there to make sure that you are taken care of. Their staff is very friendly. When the weather allows, eating out on their patio is so pleasant!!

Authentic flavor
Busy day in Hood River with crowded restaurants so this place was last resort as we headed out of town. Turned out to be a great discovery to share with others. I had the tastiest Chili Relleno I have had outside of Mexico. Others in party enjoyed their meals as well. Tables and chairs were rough but service was good.

Go for the shrimp burrito!
Our first dinner in Hood River was at this taqueria. Cherry Wonderdog ordered the carne tacos which weren’t especially exciting, and the meat mixture interior was not particularly filling. We needed to order a shrimp burrito on top, and it was MUCH better. One out of two isn’t bad.

Forget it!
4 of us ate dinner here. What is all the hype about this place, maybe it used to be better….nice patio, good service, very blah food. Had Chile Rellenos, not crispy, very bland flavor, cheese wasn’t even hot, big Padilla peppers without flavor.

Great location and patio, lousy food.
I would rate the location and patio a 4.5. However the food only rates a 2. I had the combo platter with chicken tamale and chile relleno; it is accompanied by rice and refried beans. At least they don’t cover everything with cheese as some pseudo Mexican restaurants do, but the chile verde sauce was tasteless, as was the chile relleno (no flavor to the chile, very bland cheese). The tamale masa was thin with a red sauce on the ample (too much actually for an authentic style tamale) shredded chicken filling. The flavor of the chicken was also bland and not appetizing. My partner has fajitas camarones, which also were just so-so. Even the chips and salsa were not tasty. Service was adequate, but we won’t return to eat at HR Taqueria.
