December 5, 2025Eve AOld and over seasoned beef. Bad faith business practices.
So disappointed! I went there when visiting Newport in August and had the stuffed grape leaves (Damas). Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service and loved the food. My friend had a Gyro and it looked delicious so I could hardly wait for my next Newport visit to enjoy the place again. I had a beef gyro. The meat was old, probably why it was over seasoned, so much pepper I could not eat the gyro. I asked for a side of dressing so that maybe that would balance the flavor a bit so that I could eat the sandwich. It did not, just way over seasoned. I asked if they would prepare me another with a different meat, possibly chicken. I was told that all the meats are seasoned this way. Although, my friend who chose the lamb shared a bit of Her's with me and it was not over seasoned like mine was. I was so disappointed that the restaurant did not attempt to make this right with me. Of course, I won't be back, and I will leave as many reviews as I can. Spend your money with folks who care and act in good faith. Do not reward bad actors, as they will continue to act in bad faith and steal from the customer. It is stealing when a restaurant plates the bottom of the barrel product to you, over seasons it so you won't notice and then doesn't care if it's eatable. I took it with me and tried to rinse the meat and make a sandwich out of it, that's when I realized the meat was old. They were using the seasoning to cover up bad meat.

Excellent service, I had the lamb platter it was fabulous so very flavorful and delicious! My husband had the lamb gyro it was huge and delicious as well! We definitely recommend the Gyro Guys Mediterranean Grill!

I always get take out, once or twice a month. The shawarma is excellent. Good value for the money. The last couple times the service was very slow. I waited 25 minutes past the time they said it would be ready.

Find f a Mediterranean restaurant isn’t something you find in every town. This little place is great for a short escape to another world. Great food and nice atmosphere. Their lamb is good, tender and spiced nicely. Try this place at least once next time you’re in Newport, Or.

We Really Wanted to Like This Place, but...... the atmosphere after dark is literally "nothing" and the lighting is way too bright with white LEDs you'd find in a garage. There's nothing but mismatched booth colors and awful plants for decoration. The service was good and the waitress was nice but the gyros we had, while decent, were not as tasty as many we've had recently.
