I think this place could be good maybe I picked a bad night
I think this place could be good maybe I picked a bad night. Our server was absolutely wonderful was so overworked had the whole place by herself cleaning tables and servicing the food and taking orders she could not keep up most of the tables were dirty. We ordered a pizza and shared that and although it was good you couldn’t even tell it had sauce on it at all it was like toppings on a very good crust. My companion tried a couple of the IPA beers one real dark and said that they both were very very good.
MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE IN THE GORGE!
Visited the Cascade Locks Ale House a dark rainy, wintry night last week. Immediately made welcome, the wait staff could not have been nicer. Had a wonderful meal with huge portions and an IPA. I had walked to the location from my lodging, (Cascade Motel, another great place), as I had arrived via small aircraft at a nearby airstrip that night. When it came time to leave, the owner, Shelley, was kind enough to give me a ride back saving me from a cold drenching. Never met any of these folks before, but they were wonderful! I cannot overstress the friendliness and welcoming atmosphere in this little brewpub. Anytime in the future that we are anywhere near, we will be back! Thank you Shelley, you guys are the BEST! Sincerely, Carl Hicks
Great pizza and salad
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed splitting the chef salad and a small gorge pizza. The portions were plenty big and we even had a few slices leftover. The server was very friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Poor weird service/food
Planned to stop on a long day's drive to eat at the Riverview restaurant nearby but they closed @ 4pm on a Sunday so II went over to CLAH instead. Cheerful friendly guy at door, greeted me, told me to take elevator t 3rd floor for food. Did so & Sat at the bar for 5 minutes while the bartendress chatted w the only 2 other ppl at the bar. Moved to a table & waited some more thinking that there might be a floor waitress. Finally waved the bartender down, got a menu & ordered, surprised they don't take cash (inconvenient) & you had to pay & TIP when you order....aren't tips supposed to reflect service, hence tipping afterwards. ????? Food came, ordered a meal salad which came in a smallish bowl, no bread but a big mound of bland quinoa in the salad. Greens were fresh & I could see they were dressed but was absolutely tasteless. Ordered chicken as an add on, but didn't realize it was chunks of deep FRIED chicken. Wasn't very good. Never came by to ask how the food was. Ordered a small glass of beer & bill was $26.00, totally not worth it, was very tired/hungry & so this was pretty disappointing esp the mediocre service when there were very few other customers.
Was there in the middle of PCT Days. Had a burger & it was good. Nice place in the main drag in town. If you want basic pub grub this is it. I didn’t try their pizza but heard it was good.
