Great Coffee and Pastry Plus Pizza Restaurant in Astoria, Oregon
We stopped into this place based on TA reviews and those reviews were right on. We had a couple cups of coffee, slices of pizza and some great pastries. I can see why this place is a local favorite.

Popular with locals
I have lived in the area for close to a year and this is the one place I have eaten at the most. And while Blue Scorcher is not a vegan restaurant, they do have a few vegan options. My favorite is the Vegan Reuben. They also offer a BLT using Tempeh instead of bacon. I see they have vegan pastries, and have tried the chocolate vegan croissants, which were wonderful. This is a very busy restaurant because they are so popular with locals and not just tourist. And because of that, they do run out of items earlier in the day, and that would be my biggest complaint. For those of you eating there for the first time, you bring your # to your table. You get your own silverware/napkins and bring them to the table. When you are done, you clean your table and put the dirty dishes in the bins. Anyone coming to the area (or lives here), should try at least one meal here. The fact that they are so popular with locals says a lot about this restaurant.

Pass on the Almond Croissant.
I live in Astoria and Blue Scorcher in the past, had been one of my very favorite places to dine. Over the past year I have found that management needs to allow their baker/s a bit of practice before their baked goods are sold to the public. This morning I popped and purchased an almond croissant and I almost laughed out loud when it I saw this very tiny, rock hard pastry that didn’t even remotely look (or taste) like a light buttery croissant that I’ve enjoyed in the past. I recognize that baking is an exceptionally difficult skill that takes a substantial amount of time to learn however this is not my first bakery goods disappointment and my hope is that by bringing this to management’s attention I will see great baked goods again in the future.

Definitely coming back when we visit Oregon again!
We popped in on a Saturday around noon just to get in from out of the rain! What a pleasant surprise. We got coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Wasn't a seat to be found. Can't wait to come another time and try the food.

Fantastic pastries, great coffee, fast service on a busy morning.
I popped on here on Saturday morning just for coffee and it looked so good I had to bring my family back the following day. There were 7 of us which can be hard to find something to please everyone but it was genuinely one of the best dining experiences we had in Astoria. One of the best cheese danishes I have ever had. And in spite of being a busy day, the service was fast and polite.
