Unfriendly
We stopped in for lunch about 1:15 in the afternoon. We were told they didn’t serve groups over 8 people. We had 9. We asked to be put into 2 different groups. One table was being used outside with many more empty tables. Also, only about two tables were in use inside. The rest of the area was empty; no one else looking to go in, no other people to be seen around. They still refused to let us be in 2 different parties telling us they couldn’t possibly serve that many people, although would have served other groups that came. There was absolutely no reason for not letting us be 2 different groups to eat in a practically empty restaurant. It would have been understandable if the restaurant were packed and it was a peak mealtime, but with only about 3 tables in use, it did t make sense. We happily at elsewhere and would never give this place business.

Mixed Reviews
Sorta half good and half not so good for this family dining experience. After many past visits I decided to finally order their chowder. Not my cup of tea. More like glorified potato soup. On the other hand, my wife enjoyed her broccoli cheese soup. Another in our party had the steamer clams and she wasn't impressed. But her boyfriend really liked his salmon fish & chips. Service was somewhat spotty too. Will probably return but won't be a first choice.

Disappointment
After a gastronomically adventurous two days driving down the coast, my beer brewing Sun + his restaurant owning Mama. We're looking for a nice white dinner before leaving Florence in the morning. The reviews on this place looked great. But we were really disappointed. First of all, somebody needs to examine the level of carbonation available to the beers. Both the homegrown varieties and another brewery were flat and tasted off as though the delivery system hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. The Seltzer that was brought for me to try was completely flat. He ordered fried oysters, I had chowder. Better on oysters was very dark + tasted like the oil had not been changed recently. The chowder In its attempt for a uniqueness, missed the point of the Chowder. Potatoes and onions both undercooked. And it lacks the rich creaminess of a proper shower. We then ordered fish and chips and I ordered the platter with ' smoked salmon pieces' an herby dip with baguette slices, veggies . What arrived was definitely not pieces ( more like fine tuna flakes) and not identifiable as any salmon I have ever eaten. Please understand we love food and we were trying to give this place a chance but as the evening progressed we were both more and more disappointed. I don't know if this was just the kitchen having an off night but we experience nothing to warrant the reviews we read before we arrived. The food was mediocre at best, and terrible in some places. The best order of the night was the cheese curds. . The service was great. We tipped accordingly. I sent back my dinner and did not pay for it. It was a disappointing end to what had been a lovely seafood excursion down to the Oregon coast. If this was an off night you need to retrain that cook. If this is the normal fare, I don't understand the reviews. I don't give negative reviews very often and we really looked for redeeming features during the course of the evening, but alas, could find none.

A blind call as we took a wrong turn and saw the beer sign
A couple times d seasoned traveller's.. Landed in here after a wrong turn. Decided on a home grown beer and then dinner. Was not disappointed at all. It's small and local and that's great.
