Quick, easy rest stop. Saw lots of elk.
Good for a quick stop, although we saw Elk quite often - this was good as a back up just incase we didn’t get to see them along our trip. We didn’t stay long but it was easy to park up and the kids enjoyed it.

View the Elk!
We had read the sign for viewing the Elk, so when the time came, we turned right and headed up the road to hopefully see the elk! We saw a small herd at the beginning of the viewing area. They were also doing a controlled burn while we were visiting. The controlled burn was as interesting, if not, more interesting than the elk and the cow hanging out with them!

Convenient access. No fee.
As a coastal resident this is a regular stop for me while in the Reedsport area. I use it as a sort of park. Very convenient to get to being right alongside Highway 38 and only 4 miles from Reedsport for those traveling along Highway 101. There is no fee, not even a donation box. More often than not the elk are not there or are far in the distance. I enjoy this place as a picturesque stop whether the elk are there or not but it is really great when they get close.

Fantastic View of Nature
There are many, many groups of elk to observe here. They have spared no expense to create an elk friendly viewing areas right next to Hwy 38 (?). The elk preservation runs for a long distance and there are multiple areas of opportunity where you can pull off the main road to have a closer look at them. They are very used to people and will sometimes come over quite close to the barbed wire fence to give you a better view. All Free and All Fabulous.
