Bay Area Community Concert Band Celebrates 50 Years of Making Music

The Bay Area Concert Band, directed by Stephen Simpkins, kicks off their 50th anniversary celebration with a concert Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the North Bend Presbyterian Church. The concert features a guest performance by North Bend native vocalist and bandleader, Shamus Hanlin. Shamus began his career as a young performer with the Oregon Coast Lab Band and Bay City Swing. His career in jazz includes performances at the Sun Valley Jazz & Music Festival, the Clambake Music Festival and tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra throughout Mexico. The concert will also include a solo performance by trumpeter Wilbur Jensen and will feature Ted Terry on the Euphonium.
