Great, except for one little thing...
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while attending a hobby convention there. It's a level above the places I usually stay (Hampton Inn or the equivalent -- I'm a free agent where brands are concerned), so my perception of value is probably a little off. The room rate is a little higher than I'm used to paying but seems to be in line with similar hotels in the area and does include a real breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was totally in line, but items in the convenience shop seemed high, even for a hotel ($6 for a 20 oz bottle of soda, $5 for a large candy bar). Staff were outstanding! Everyone with whom I came in contact was smiling and helpful (and the omelet cooks know how to do it!). I had one seeming problem that I reported to the desk, and the clerk was calling Engineering before I was 6 feet away. (The problem persisted, though, so I don't know if they never responded or if they decided it was something that could wait until I checked out.) Biggest problem with the room -- outside the bathroom, which I'll talk about separately -- was the temperature control. The thermostat was digital and easy to figure out, but the numbers being displayed definitely were NOT the actual temperature in the room. I usually like a room on the cooler side but I had to turn the thermostat up to 72° to keep the room from feeling like an icebox. Even still, the living area was noticeably cooler than the sleeping area. The only other problems with the room itself were finding somewhere to plug in my computer and finding a comfortable place to work. There are plugs in all the lamps, but they were rated for 3.5a maximum and my 4a power brick shut them down. The only exception was the lamp on the table, in which the plugs were rated for 4a and worked fine. There were two outlets at the desk in the bedroom, one with a red light and one with a green light -- no idea what the lights meant. No comfortable way to sit there, though, so I didn't try them. Most of the double wall outlets already had two items plugged in (one lamp plus something else) or were difficult to reach. The sofa in the living room was not comfortable -- at least for me. Way to hard and way too low; the seat was lower than my knees (I'm tall but my legs are actually shorter than average) and with no arm rest it was hard to get up. The desk chair at the table also was hard and the back sat at an angle that didn't match my back (I didn't find a way to adjust it, but to be honest I didn't look hard, either). Sitting on the bed worked best, but here is where the lack of outlets came into play. The bathroom was a different story. It was kept spotless by Housekeeping, had a jet flush toilet so there was no fear of stopping it up, and hot water was almost instantaneous in both the sink and the shower. About halfway through my stay the toilet started making a noise like an overworked motor when the tank was filling (the problem mentioned above), but nothing exploded or burned out so it probably bothered the neighbors more than me. Also, this was the rare hotel that has a shower curtain (a) hung the right way and (b) long enough to keep all the water at either end in the tub. Kudos! On the other hand, there is no exhaust fan, which would be very useful for humidity and odor control. There is a safety issue, though. The tub is deep with high sides and stepping in and out can be hazardous. There is one safety bar inside the enclosure, toward the plumbing end (as it is in most establishments) where it provides no help getting in and out. There is no bar inside or outside the enclosure at the far end. For those of us with weak muscles or other leg issues, this is an accident waiting to happen. I'll acknowledge that this seems to be common, that designers don't recognize there's a point between being fully abled and needing an accessible room. I don't want to take the latter away from someone such as a wheelchair user who truly needs it, but I do want to feel safe getting in and out of the tub for my shower! On the plus side, the tub bottom was fully non-skid and I had no fear of slipping. By and large the hotel was very quiet. At least, it was very quiet until the last night when it was overrun by a lot of kids in town for a lacrosse tournament. To be fair, I don't hold this against the hotel; the parents are the ones who need to teach their little darlings proper indoor behavior (no running, no shouting, no loud knocking on doors, be considerate of others). Normal noise from the atrium, though, was a non-factor in the room, even when it was full to the gills. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone not worried about the accessibility issues in the bathroom!

Quality is slipping
I've stayed at this property about five times in the last two years and was initially really impressed with the value, though it has seemed like each subsequent trip has not lived up to the initial one. This time the wear and tear on the place was hard to ignore. Our room this time included badly ripped bedskirts and missing curtain pulls; in the first floor women's restroom, multiple ceiling tiles were cracked or askew, grout and baseboards were filthy, and the air vent covers were completely caked with dust and looked disgusting. Even the quality of the buffet breakfast and happy hour seemed to have slipped, with the heated syrup dispenser broken, diet coke out for 2 full days, and dwindling variety of food items particularly at happy hour. On my next trip to the area I'll be staying somewhere else.

Loud noise until 4am
Hilton Honor Members look elsewhere for lodging and avoid this Embassy Suites Hotel. I stayed here 2/22-2/28 2026 on business. While there were small annoyances with the room itself such as no toilet paper holder just a loose roll and worn carpet, the biggest issue was the complete lack of service, care for their Honor members, especially Diamond and absolute disregard for their own hotel noise policies. 2/26 through 2/28 the hotel hosted the "Rose City Swing" which held dance competitions during the day. However they were allowed to party in the event space directly below my room with no noise curfew. Thursday night into Friday morning I had loud thumping music going until after 4am Friday. I called several times to complain and was told they would have security go over and ask them to turn it down. Friday 2/27 into Saturday 2/28 the same issue! loud thumping music I called again at midnight and 4 am to complain and the response from the "supervisor" on duty was "sorry there is nothing we can do except ask them to turn it down, we should have moved affected guests away from the space before this started". Saturday morning checking out I asked to speak to the Hotel manager only to find out no manager was supposedly on duty until 11am and was told to contact Hilton Honors directly. I did so and opened a complaint with Hilton which I was told would receive a response from the hotel management team within 3 business days. its now been 5.... it is obvious this team has absolutely no care or consideration for their overnight guests or Hilton Honor members and cannot be bothered to reach out to provide even an apology or explanation as to how or why something like this was even allowed! There are several other Hilton and Marriott Properties close by and I'd strongly suggest staying there at all costs!

Outdated, Uncomfortable beds/furniture. Mold in ceiling.
Been coming here since I was a kid in the 90s’s and it’s lost its charm. Very outdated. Couch’s, chairs, and beds are very worn and uncomfortable. Don’t even try the pull out for the couch, it’s like sleeping on metal bars. Visible rust on light fixtures in bathroom, mold in the ceiling (gross!), and leaky faucets. Ive brought my own family here yearly for the location on the outskirts of Portland and hoped they’d update the rooms but it gets worse every time! Same carpet in rooms from 3-5+ years ago, showing wear. The included breakfast is decent and the free drinks between 5-7pm is nice but it’s hard to justify paying $200 plus parking fees etc. for an outdated hotel. Won’t be coming here again sadly.

Nice stay despite the obvious wear and tear
We had 2 king bed suites booked for 3 nights each. I noticed that some other reviews mentioned that the property is dated and worn. This fact is true to an extent. Furniture and decor did seem dated and the suites appeared to be worn, the suites seem to be due for a renovation. On a positive note, the living rooms, bathooms and bedroom of both suites were very spacious....a family of 4 could stay in one of these suites and have plenty of elbow room. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Each suite had a microwave, a fridge, and 2 televisions.....we did feel that for the large size of the rooms, the tvs could have been a little bigger. This hotel has a very good food and beverage program. There is you typical Embassy Suites hot breakfast with plenty of hot and cold items as well as the cooked to order egg/omelette station. Also has a nightly managers reception from 5:30 pm to 7 pm and every guests gets 2 free drinks, both the omelette line and the line for evening drinks moves quickly and the staff are friendly. We had a delicious dinner with great service at the on site restaurant Cascadia. I especially recommend both the seafood chowder and the seafood pasta dish. Hotel has an indoor pool that we did not use but looked very nice and inviting......made us wish that we had brought swimwear on the trip. There is not much walkability at this hotel...there is a Target store across the street that is easy to get to...there is a Jackson's convenience in front of the hotel....the hotel is close to a major shopping mall (Washington Square) which has plenty of wining/dining options....theoretically you could walk to the mall but we chose to drive since the sidewalk next to the hotel does not extend down to the mall and you would have to walk on the road to get to the mall. Hotel has plenty of parking but unless you arrive early, you can expect to park in the back lot which has many more parking spaces that the front lot. The back lot does have an entrance to the back end of the hotel which you can access with your key card. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel....would have been a 5 star but had to deduct one star due to the wear and tear evident in the rooms.
