Missing some basics.
I’ve stayed here twice now so I know it’s not just the room I was in, but the entire hotel. It’s in a decent location and the accommodations are adequate. There are three things that are not great. First, parking. I absolutely hate it when a hotel charges an extra fee for parking. I’m paying $165/night to stay here and there is nothing special about the parking lot. No security, no gates, nothing. There is no reason for it other than fleecing the guests. Next, the TV system. A lot of the Marriott chains have dumped premium channels. That’s fine because most everyone has streaming and they make it convenient to connect to the major streaming network, however their WiFi is rather slow and can’t handle it (and apparently I get the “enhanced” WiFi because of my status with Marriott). And, their system severely mutes the TV volume. I have it turned all the way up and when the AC kicks on, you can’t hear the TV very well. The last thing that really annoys me is that there is NOT a soap dish in the shower. I know some people just use the hotel stuff provided, but there are a lot of us who don’t like their stuff and prefer our own stuff. The showers here have no shelves, nowhere to put any bottles or soap. Nothing. I end up putting my soap on the floor just outside the door. Not ideal. Cutting out something so simple is another black mark against this hotel. Put a shelf or soap dish in the shower. Improve the WiFi and TV volume. Stop tacking on extra hidden fees like parking. Do better

Nice Hotel in Greatl Location! Amazing Customer Service!
The hotel is clean, comfortable, and in a great location, but what truly makes it stand out is the incredible customer service. The staff here is fantastic, especially Tamsyn at the front desk. She is an absolute rock star—friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about making guests feel welcome. During my stay, Tamsyn went above and beyond. One morning, I was in a rush and had ordered breakfast without realizing there would be a wait. When I mentioned it wasn’t a problem to give my order to someone else, she personally went to the back and made sure it was ready so I could take it with me. That level of care and attention is rare, and it didn’t go unnoticed. I also observed how she treated every guest with the same kindness and professionalism. This is the best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time, and Tamsyn truly deserves recognition. Aloft and Marriott are lucky to have her!

Serviceable for a night
Aloft Cascade Station is in a good location and is very close to the airport and shopping with easy access to I-205, SR14, and I-5. Parking is a little tight for larger vehicles and is reasonably priced at $12/day, though across the bridge parking is free in Vancouver, WA. Stepping into the lobby you are greeted with a modern vibe. The lounge looks very comfy, the bar is well stocked, there are lots of snacks you can purchase (though $4 for a smaller water is a bit much). There are flight schedules posted near the elevators. I will say that the lobby has a bit of a stale smell to it. Check in was quick and we went up to our room. The hallways are really narrow, my husband and I aren't able to walk side by side without touching one another or the walls. This isnt an issue but is very noticable. Furthermore, we noticed that our hallways had a very large cobweb on the ceiling that has clearly been there for some time so we were concerned about cleanliness. The room itself has a pretty heavy/stiff door that takes significant effort to open. Right behind the door we saw that the wallpaper was bubbled up as if there was water damage behind it. The room smelled like a box of crayons which I didn't love but was fine. The first thing I do is always check the mattress for pests. There were none to be found but I also found that the mattress was missing the casing for the pillow top. The sheets were clean without any stains or other issues. I personally think the bed is far too hard, however, I have a purple premier hybrid plush mattress at home so I'm very spoiled. There is a build up of dust between the mattress and the bedside table which is a shame because it is very easy to clean. In the room there are no drawers of any sort, everything is open. I'm not sure if the room we had was an accessible room or what but the bathroom counter and toilet were quite low but there is no way for someone to get into the shower if they have mobility issues. The sinks are bowl style sinks and the faucets are a little too high and powerful so you can easily splash yourself. The water also gets boiling hot very quickly. I burned my hands washing them and my husband burned himself in the shower. There is a barn door for the bathroom which I hate with a passion. They are heavy and have pocket door handles so they are very hard to close. When you do close them they don't seal anything in so anyone in the room can hear and scent anything going on in the bathroom. There is also a single, dim light in the shower. Overall it is just poorly designed. The rooms ac unit is a beast. I had the option to turn it down I to the 50s! I did not do that but I was impressed it was even an option. The TV interface is laggy and irritating but that is a small issue. The blackout shades work but there are gaps along the sides that let the light in. We didn't try the gym or the pool and cannot comment on those. Overall, Aloft is serviceable. I think they try to hard to be trendy rather than comfortable. I would stay again if I couldn't find somewhere else.

Decent option when flying into and out of PDX
Situated near PDX, this hotel is ideal to overnight when flying in or out of PDX. Keep in mind this hotel is part of a large chain, catering to business travelers. It doesn’t have a warm, cozy feel that the smaller boutique hotels offer. Pros - close proximity to PDX and Cascade Station. Free airport shuttle. Cons - limited food options. We were bumped from the shuttle by an airline crew (despite being the first people in the lobby) and ended up taking an Uber to make our flight. The bathroom seems dated and worn, it could use a refresh.

Perfect Aloft Experience
First and Foremost is the location. A three minute walk from the MAX station. It is also directly across the street from Cascade Mall with a Best Buy, Alta, and a number of restaurants including Famous Dave’s, Red Robin and a Mediterranean place called Babba. My welcome to the property was great. She recognized me as a Titanium, and offered Points or Ten Dollars Cocktail Credit or Twenty for Grab and Go. I chose the prior and had a well made Margarita. The room was clean and fresh. I’ve traveled in Marriott Brands for 35 Years. Aloft is what I believe they refer to as a “Disruptive” brand. They’re efficient and have what I’d describe as a “Scandinavian Sensibility”. Lots of wood shelving, and the rooms are all intermingled without any loss of space. Not many soft surfaces, which in a Post Covid world is great. My only change feedback for this property is the towels in the bathroom. My bath towel was very thin and worn. Almost like one from High School Gym Class. My early AM departure was smooth and expedient. A special shout out to the Shuttle Driver. I wish I recalled him name, but he was friendly, and helped with my luggage. For a fast get away for an early PDX departure, this can’t be beat!
