The Dalles Dam is 192 miles upstream from the mouth of the Columbia River, two miles east of the city of The Dalles, Oregon. The dam extends 1.5 miles from the Oregon shore to the navigation lock on the Washington shore. The project consists of a navigation lock, spillway, powerhouse and fish passage facilities. The visitor center is at the old location of the Seufert’s Fish Cannery where the old foundation remains as well as fishwheel sluiceways. There you can explore a variety of interactive displays, watch a short film on the benefits and impacts of the dam, get a sneak peak of fish migrating up the fish ladder, or browse the Discover Your Northwest bookstore.
Patterson and Seufert parks nearby offer picturesque picnics and Mount Hood views. Additionally, visit the eastern end of The Dalles Riverfront trail and the historic Seufert Rose Garden with over 90 rose varieties within the nearby Patterson and Seufert Parks. Easily accessible from I-84, take exit 87, east on Brett Clodfelter Way.
