Dan and Robin Christensen have been baking for nearly 30 years and are continuing their family traditions in Cannon Beach. Beginning the trade at the age of 12, Dan is a third-generation baker, with deep family roots in Denmark. The Danish is handmade, the eight-grain bread is hearth baked and everything is made from scratch. The star item at Cannon Beach Bakery is their famous Haystack Bread. Traced back to a formula nearly 50 years old, the crusty loaves are known up and down the coast for their outsanding taste. Each loaf is hand-prepared start to finish just as it was in 1920.

Two morning visits, nothing in the cases.
I was so anxious to be back in Cannon Beach so we could visit CB Bakery! I remember amazing bagels! But went two mornings and found empty cases. I wasn’t alone. So many lost sales.

Mixed review, some good, some bad
Mixed bag. Brother's danish was stale. My eclair was fine. Loaves of bread on shelf, lots of selection. Challah bread was not like I'd had at delis. Loaf of bread $8.00+ store closed on Tuesdays- always- got there on Tuesday., drove back from Seaside (through detours and construction). Bakery is part of a mini mall thing, not a stand-alone, so look inside those areas. Near Tom's fish which is easier to spot. Dreadful traffic and no parking- had to go around the block 4 times to find a spot. Had no idea Cannon Beach was that busy!

I'm dreaming of the haystack cookies...
Get here early! ( And they close at 2pm.) It has taken me a month to work off the five pounds that I am blaming on this bakery and the month that I indulged in all their goodies! It's all good -- the bread, the breakfast pastries, the muffins, the haystack cookies. I can't wait to go back next summer.
