About Hoodoo Ski Area

Hoodoo Ski Area

Whether you prefer the deep and challenging powder of Hoodoo’s backside or the finely groomed runs of the front side, the majesty of the location and fun of Hoodoo’s night skiing will bring you back again and again.

Even if you don’t ski, there’s plenty to do for everyone including the very popular Autobahn Tube Hill.

The closest ski area to Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley, Hoodoo also draws skiers from Central Oregon who find Hoodoo cheaper, deeper and steeper. The ski slopes are on a big, rounded butte, with lots of wide open terrain. Freestyle skiers and snowboarders will appreciate the terrain park off Blue Valley run, it’s full of rails, tabletops and jumps. Plus there’s 7.5km of groomer Nordic track, with an additional 8.3k on the Skyliner trail which is groomed weekends and holidays.

Located on Hwy 20, 20 miles west of Sisters.

    FANTASTIC SKI INSTRUCTOR!

Today I had my first cross country (Nordic) ski lesson at Hoodoo with Beverly, who went above and beyond to make it a wonderful experience. I learned all the basics, and before I knew it was feeling comfortable on skis and looking forward to future skiing adventures. Beverly is a fantastic teacher who is patient and kind and very encouraging. The area we had our lesson in was spectacularly beautiful with an abundance of fresh snow and glorious trees everywhere. The various well kept runs were perfect for learning this delightful sport. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    Snowboard Lesson

Didn’t know what we were doing... total rookies! Unclear where to check-in, where to get gear, how to put it on and make sure it fit, where to wait, etc. When we asked an employee for help, he was very impatient and inattentive. Bad start to an unpleasant day. We hung in there, but didn’t get much better. Two of our kids asked to be done with their lesson early, then instructor never checked in with us at the end when the other two finished. What a confusing experience!

    Unsafe

If there was a consistency amongst the people who worked at the mountain I would feel confident to come back. I feel like the management of the people at the lodge was loose at best. I was under duress as I lost my phone and keys. I had to talk to a few people until I found one employee in the ticket department, I am sorry I didn't get her name 2/19/21 working at 2:30-7p.m., who recognized my situation and responded graciously with letting me use the phone. Her counterpart however, Joshua Magaurn was snarky and standoffish. I lost my phone and my fob key. I had a $723.75 ride home, broken window, and 5 hour wait. During this time my $1,300 skis and bindings and poles were stolen in front of the ticket office. Joshua hinted I shouldn't turn in a theft report which I told him to file and give me a copy. Totally standoffish and uncool. As I told a ski patrol he said he was sorry and this happens at ski areas.. I said are there cameras and he said let's check....nope ...sorry Really , that's the best you can do. A lady heard my stress and she said her snowboard just got ripped off at hte same location. Well done Hoodoo. How do we know your employees weren't the ones stealing the equipment. It's really convenient you don't have cameras. I gave my fiance and the tow truck driver the number to the lodge. The people in the office were aware of my situation. Both my fiance and the tow truck driver tried calling the number to Hoodoo to be given a menu and no one to help. I am glad there wasn't a more urgent situation. By the way when the lights go out your sol. Your mountain is aptly named

    Fantastic Ski Resort for Families!

Hoodoo is a fantastic spot for you and your family. It is affordable, fun runs and laid back. You can even bring your crockpot into the lodge. Excellent place to spend time and they are truly committed to our community. I'm grateful they are there and for everything they do!
