The Dog Spot is a combination of boutique and cafe. Inspired by their love of great food and amazing pets, they have curated a line of pet essentials, human clothing, accessories and home goods along with delicious food.
Quick trip into Joseph
The chef was out when we stopped by but the dessert menu was still available and we had delicious cheesecake. We tried the chocolate (?)mint and cinnamon roll flavors and both were great. The service was good too, nice outdoor seating.
Don't sleep on this spot!
Don't be deceived by the exterior--it definitely looks like a pet store. But the HUMAN food/restaurant is really exceptional. Incredible food, very nice people.
The most unusual restaurant of the trip
We took a 3-week road trip this summer. People keep asking me what the best restaurant was. I'm not sure this was the best (though it is very good) but it is certainly the most unusual. The Dog Spot is a pet store with 6 tables (three in and three outside) and a chef. One sits at tables surrounded by leashes and dog beds and eats an eclectic, always changing menu made in the back room on a homestyle stove (so the chef told us when he stopped by the table). We had mac-n-cheese, but not ordinary mac-n-cheese. This one was made with about 7 different cheeses and "pork dust" on top. We could have, and should have, shared a serving - it was huge. The service was good too. I think some reviews said it was hard to get in but the night we were there, on a weeknight in July, it was easy and fun.
Excellent wine and food
We spent four hours and the folks at the Dog spot wowed us with great dishes, like bahn mi & chorizo+potato tacos - delicious halibut! The wine was a wide range of tastes, and not over-priced Also, dogs are quite welcome!
Celebrating Mardi Gras
We just ate there. Great food and service. I had Shrimp and Grits and best Bread Pudding I have ever had.
