Stop in for some real Texas BBQ, cooked low and slow, with huge briskets, pork butts, ribs, turkey, sausage and chicken all cooked with the best Mesquite and Oak available. A stone’s throw from the Rogue River, the country store features goods from the local craftsmen and women, artists and authors.
Our Roto Rooter guy (originally from West Texas) recommended Hoebels for Texas Bar B Que. It is a short pleasant drive from Medford on the way to Crater Lake National Park. Unassuming, to the point of "is this really the place?" It is a delight. Three of us had different offerings from their special custom made sausage, to brisket to smoked Turkey . Everything was done just right. The sauce was not overdone, the smoke light and flavorful and meat falling off the ribs. We walked away knowing we would be back....if you are not craving g Texas style bar b que , you will after visiting Goebels
The bbq is certainly on a par with Texas barbecue. Turns out Laura the owner moved from New Braunfels Texas to Oregon a few years back. We ordered a pound of spare ribs and a 1/2 lb of brisket and sat outside on her picnic table and enjoyed this meal. The meat just fell off the bones. Both were cooked with a fabulous rub and barbecue sauce on the side was delicious. Dinner was $22, it was more than we could possibly eat. As we were leaving the next day for Crater Lake Natl Park, we ordered a little extra. We had enough for lunch the next day as well as our next day dinner. If you are in the area, I highly recommend.
We read the TripAdvisor reviews and knew we had to haveGoebel’s barbecue for dinner. We also read that they run out of food so we called in our order. We looked at the menu and everything looked wonderful. She does tacos, sandwiches, banana pudding, sausage, turkey, soup, sides, salad… And even a daily special. We explained our quandary about lunch in Crater Lake & Laura beautifully packaged a deconstructed brisket sandwich to take on the road. She included a complementary salad that I can’t wait to try. I hope lunch makes it to Crater Lake and we don’t eat it first.
This is above all, the Best BBQ west of the Mississippi!! Didn't know we could get great BBQ out here! Great location...no fussy inside eating. Enjoy the outdoors and pull up a picnic table. If the weather isn't to your liking, take it home, they bundle up everything real nice so its warm when you get home! We will be returning soon. Great drive and lunch makes for a great day!
This is a follow up to a review that I posted previously. I have stopped by multiple times to ensure that my initial rating wasn’t a fluke or tempered by personal factors. Yep, the food is just as amazing, the prices still reasonable, and the service evermore friendly. There is one big difference...this place is being found so get there early or call ahead to avoid being disappointed by a SOLD OUT message!
