The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is best known as the home of the world’s largest wooden flying boat, the Hughes H-4 Hercules "Spruce Goose,” the SR-71 “Blackbird,” and the Titan II SLV Missile. In addition, there are more than 200 historic aircraft, spacecraft and exhibits on display, along with Oregon’s biggest large-format 3D theater.

High flying time
Great showing of planes throughout history. Up close view of the spruce goose! Behind the scenes tour of how they are restored was interesting. Give yourself at least 3 hours to take it all in.

The perfect-sized aviation museum and still having an impressive and varied collection
This place is the perfect-sized aviation museum and still having an impressive and varied collection. It's a fraction of the USAF museum in Dayton, Ohio or the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, an annex of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum at Dulles International Airport, but it'll still take you a couple hours to take it all in. The Spruce Goose is the centerpiece, but there is so much more. I joined a tour group led by a volunteer and the anecdotes gave his talk greater depth than you would get just by reading the plaques. Highly recommend.

WOW! A Must See Museum!
A friend suggested we check it out and WOW! As an aviation geek, I was floored with this place. It's the home of Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose", but it's SO much more! It's not just a collection of planes, but an awesome display of aviation and space program history. From a Wright Flyer to the SR-71, replicas of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo capsules, various missiles, all housed in two huge buildings. There is also a theater and a water park with a 747 on top where the slides begin! It would have been worth the fee just to see the Spruce Goose, but you really get your money's worth! My only disappointment was that we got there a bit late and only had 90 minutes to check it out. I could have easily spent another couple of hours there.

Better than expected with lot of history
My wife and I went to Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum recently while on vacation in area. I have heard lot about this museum and finally had chance to visit. There are two buildings - one with historical type planes and one focused on space. The one with historical type planes includes the Spruce Goose. People were very friendly and helpful. Casual atmosphere. We were there around 90 minutes. Admission fee was reasonable. There is also theater on the premises but did not make it there. Recommend if in area.

Flight Fancy Fun
Cool place for the flying enthusiast or even those with mild interest (me!). If you know anything about the eccentric Hollywood director Howard Hughes, the Spruce Goose is a sight to behold and worth the price of admission by itself.
