Bandon Historical Society Museum has displays of early history of the area including Indian artifacts, logging, fishing, cranberry farming and the disastrous 1936 fire that destroyed the city. The gift shop offers a wonderful selection of books, knick-knacks, jewelry, paperweights, myrtlewood and more.
Worth the visit
We were so glad to find a band in History Museum. It is a nice small museum with a fascinating collection of artifacts from former residence.
An incredible collection carefully curated and beautifully displayed. We spent an hour in there and left with a new appreciation for Bandon and all it has been through. If you enjoy museums and local history, do not miss this one!
Great Little Museum
Great little museum, friendly staff, great artifacts, small gift shop, local town history, great for kids and teens..
Small museum just packed with history and interesting artifacts.
I didn't realize the town has actually burned twice. I was also fascinated about the history of the ships that had used Bandon as a port of call and just how many over the year met their demise at the 'bar' as there often is at the mouth of a river. So much more. the best value in town...
Little Museum With A Big Heart
This little museum is amazing. It's evident that the historical society loves its little town. There's something for everyone here covering everything related to the area: fishing industry, logging, cranberries, native Americans, medicine, the famous fire of 1936, schools, military, maritime, coal mining, tourism, beaches, etc. Even kids should be entertained. It's a fabulous deal too at only $3 per person.
